I was able to get the cross sections and keel finished for the lower half of the top pod, then I ran out of clay so back to the pod-car!

Finally got some clay and back on this thing,
this clay from Aves is their "fit it" clay it's
very similar to the Apoxie Sculpt but its
good up to 500deg. That was the big draw for me
as the regular Apoxie sculpy is right around 350deg.

Some sanding....... the Apoxie sculpt is good but i
find its tends to push in on its self as your placing it.
Even when you first mix it and you begin to layer and
bring it up between the stations, its just tough enough
that it will create indentations as you smooth it in. So
the best results come after 24hrs, if you have to add here
and there your doing it on a rock hard marbel like surface. I am not
usually in to much of a rush so not a great big deal. The
density foams are probably better and much faster, not
sure on price of them and how much heat they can deal
with, in regards to vacuum forming. The lower hull needs
just a bit more clay here and there.

Thanks guys........:thumbsup

Ok so we got ribs.......usually thats good
but this is not a BBQ:lol:thumbsdown

I decided i didnt want to skim over them, to much waste of clay
and i dont like Bondo on my parts. The problem is the differences
in hardness between the 3mm polystyrene and the cured clay. The
clay wins hands down or :thumbsdown in tis case.:lol So this causes an
issue when sanding. I decided to just bring down the ribs and keel using a smallchisel.....just scraped the plastic material away. Then i jusr added in a bead of clay and let it dry. This allowed me later to sand clay across clay instead ofclay across styrene.
