Lulu1922: Thanks so much!
Specops616: Thrilled you like it!! btw, CLU2 will be back up hopefully by the end of the year!

Here's another color variant: coolneon's red (though it's more of a Black Guard orange).

Re: Tron: Legacy Quorra Helmet

Seriously, this helmet is amazingly accurate for being hand built! Loving the cardboard cutout method you use for symmetry.

I stumbled across the movie helmet makers site if you want to compare your work to the actual prop.

Thanks!
Those are fantastic pictures! I wish I had known about those a year ago!

Re: Tron: Legacy Quorra Helmet

As a huge fan of Tron: Legacy and especially Quorra..well...Olivia Wilde *cough cough* :p I have to say you captured it perfectly. It is truly an amazing piece and I CAN'T wait to see how you finish it!

Re: Tron: Legacy Quorra Helmet

It's time to make a new mold! But before I do, I thought I'd add a few details that bring it more in line with the screen-used prop:

- rear circumferential groove - done
- top detail (from simple round to flat with a circular bumpout) - in progress
- grooves which flow from the front detail down under the chin - tbd
- grooves which surround the rear 'vent' details - tbd

Re: Tron: Legacy Quorra Helmet

Finished the chin grooves, and the detail on the top. Now I'm trying to feather everything back in with the glossy finish. I've decided to not add the grooves surrounding the rear vents. Call me lazy.

Re: Tron: Legacy Quorra Helmet

Very nice details. Have you considered adding EL tape or using a light diffuser to get the same look as the screen used helmet?

Re: Tron: Legacy Quorra Helmet

Thanks! Yes, I considered it, but I decided the differences were fairly minor and it was much easier (and cost effective) to go with a simple el wire. A diffuser with el wire might be the next easiest solution, but el wire does not shine very bright when diffused. So, that leads to an LED array with diffuser or custom el tape... that doesn't interest me, but if someone wants to try it, they certainly can! One reason why I sell raw casts. =)

Re: Tron: Legacy Quorra Helmet

Thank you!

Sculpt updates are finished, new mold has been made, and 1st cast was pulled tonight. I'm pretty excited with how it turned out, even though the details are subtle.

Re: Tron: Legacy Quorra Helmet

Great work Sir! Details are amazing.

Mr. Crimson490, may I use your work photos as reference pictures for my project? It's a mix up of Iron Man and Tron helmet.
