Thanks everybody! I can't wait to wear it tonight!
I know exactly where the problem is; we think Matt scored the lead wires when he stripped them because they're snapped off right where they go through the shirt. I was able to reconnect the panel by jamming the broken ends into the holes where they used to be, but I just tried to epoxy them back into place instead of soldering. It held for a while but went out again after I had been moving around a few minutes. I was going to try to solder them back in last night but it turns out the butane-fueled soldering iron is gunked up with epoxy because the bottles leaked in the mail...... :unsure If my roommate ever comes home I might try asking him for help, but I almost just want to cut my losses and quit pulling my hair out over one piece. There's another piece on the right foot that seems to have a jankity connection but I was having good luck with it last night so I'm going to pray to the Users for it to last a while longer.
The connections are so hard to get at because Matt encased them all in epoxy.... good idea for durability, but hard to get into to repair. This is all EL wire diffused with silicone, so they're all direct soldered connections. I wish I could use the handy alligator clips!
