Tron Legacy Costume

For those programs who are awaiting pics of the V2.0 Flashback Flynn jacket, it should be here by Wednesday. I'll post some right away. I'm also planning to post the design file here, with any corrections that need to be made based on the final product that comes to my door. That way if you guys order one, you will not have the flaws that show up on V2.0, though I think it should be good. I'm confident the kinks got worked out in V1.0. lol



As for the siren....Agreed. Reflective tape, but I can't say I agree that it looks awesome.

Sure it might have been good in person, but part of the fun of this kind of stuff is looking back at the pics and remembering how great it looked. All you can see is a white blob in the pics. ShogunVader, on the other hand, has a good level of brightness. Its shows well in pics and looks lit up. I think you have to be careful with reflective tape as it can get too reflective.

Was this pic taken with an Iphone 4 flash on? The same over driven light effect with the Siren's reflective tape going on here happened with Kit's Siren suit when ppl took pics of her with their Iphone 4 flash on. She was glowing to high hell :p We kept trying over and over and the phone couldn't get one decent looking pic with her reflective tape.

I dunno about it being fake, the production value was pretty high; Lots of actors, special effects, camera angles, high production value usually = real. I betchya Tron 3 is called Tron Destiny and the MCP and Sark are in it! :p

Is the Masquerade on Saturday at the SD Comic Con the only time they show the future film trailers?

I hardly ever attend the Masquerade so wasn't sure if they showed the trailors any other time.

I dunno, it's pretty ridiculous what dedicated amateurs can crank out..just look at the RPF :)

Also, the mention of the thesis in the film made me think that it might be by a film student or something. Except they generally can't resist putting their names on stuff

I'm with you. A fake for sure judging by the sets and the actors. Still very cool.

As for the jacket, no thanks needed. We are all in this together. Also, since alot of you have said that you want a jacket but with some changes I figure I might as well just post it now for you to play with. Tweak away, programs. Tweak away.

When you fill it out, be sure to take the measurements from a jacket that fits the way you like. Lay it flat and get out a tape measure. As long as you place a value in each of the categories you will have a good fit... or at least the same fit as the jacket you started with.
 
that's a very cool jacket design. would it be possible to route ipod/iphone earbuds out of the interior of one of the upper pockets so it was all stealth and you just saw the buds in the ears but not where they were coming from. Seems like it would be pretty slick, and a feature most people who want the jacket would enjoy.

Sure. But how would that be different than just putting your ipod/iphone in the interior pocket and running the head phones up? You can do that with any jacket.
 
definately fan made. someone mentioned the opening shot to be from the social network. and the acting wasnt motion picture quality. though id love to see sark make a comeback

This disney siren was using the same 'fabric reflective tape' as kit. This picture was taken with camera phone and most camera phones have the same problem of washing out everything.

Its why I love a particular version of reflective tape. It doesn't wash out every one, and has enough reflective qualities to fool people into thinking it actually glows. The tape is super flexible but can only be adhered on instead of sewn, so its not washable. But hey at a fraction of illuminating strips, i can easily replace and not cry if it gets damage. Plus no soldering or risk of electrocution like compass during tron premiere back in december.

I'm really proud of the jacket (even though I want more detailed line), because so many have asked me where I bought the jacket. And its like I made it. I know its compliment when something looks so cool that people thought I bought it, but I made it :p

Unfortunately at elecTRONic there was a lot of blue light that made my clu jacket look orange to the naked eye. I'm currently making another jacket and will be posting development shots in the next few days.

For her, tape $9, jacket $10, square yard of nylon fabric $7, looking as cool as clu $priceless.

Only with a camera with controlled setting can you get the image to look right.

Also I was at a charity event, and I won a white Kevin Flynn disc. The irony was that I was wearing my tron jacket (the only guy wearing tron anything so it looked rigged when I won). Kit is my witness I really did win it fair and square.
