Tron Legacy Costume

Okay, a plan is forming. I'm going to try and find a black side-buttoning chef's jacket and a pair of waxed denim pants, then run reflective tape along the flap of the jacket and down the sides of the pants. I picked up a really awesome set of fingerless bicycle gloves too. I think it might also make a great base to add some EVA foam to later for a Games suit.

Gams001, can't wait to see the build of the blade. I just picked up a baton at Target last night since I didn't have one yet.

I love that people are picking up on the waxed denim idea. It really does look cool. I love the chef jackt idea. I tried that original, but i was to small to find one that fit the way i wanted. You know chefs love to eat, lol.

My EL Tape, re-made Jacket, and boots should all be here by Mon/Tues, so I will be working on them througout the week and posting pics soon. I'm really close to getting my SI disc mod as well. This costume is really coming together. I'm hoping by next weekend to be completed (maybe not the disc) and post pics!

Keep up all the great work, everyone!

MisterDigital;1646836I love the chef jacket idea. I tried that original said:
Admittedly, that's part of why I'm going that route. I've got a bit of a pot belly going on, and I think a chef jacket should give a cool look and obscure the bulge some so I don't look too silly.

I was originally thinking Dickies, but that pick of the waxed denim sold me! I just hope I can find a cheap pair.

If you can't find a pair, just get some black jeans and wax them up yourself. Like I said, its more work, but all things considered, easy enough to do. I posted some basic instructions on the original post about the jeans.

On a side note, I'm considering coating my outer disc ring in "nite-shade". Its a trasnparent black paint that is used for blacking out tail lights. Looking at the pics of completed SI mods, I'm asuming it would be bright enough to shine right through without a problem. That way the outer disc would apear black until the light is "activated" for battle, like in the film.

I was thinking i would spray the ring in clear plasti-dip before I do the nite-shade. That way I can peel it off if it doesn't work out.

What do you guys think?

EDIT - The remade jacket just shipped!!!!

Yes, the nite-shade would allow for light to pass through, but I think it would make it noticeably darker, especially compared to the brightness of the C ring. Another thing to consider is the flexibility of the rings. I don't know how flexible the tint is, but it would suck if you put all that work into it and then had it develop cracks on you.

Good call. I hadn't thought of that. I will definitly go the clear plasti-dip route since I have it already, then take it off it its a flop due to the reduced brightness.

I'll keep everyone posted on what happens. I don't mind being the guinea pig.

I want to keep my Flynn inspired program as simple as possible but I cant decide whether to do more "Legacy" like side stripe or more "Betrayal" toe stripe placement. Which of these 3 stripe placements do you guys prefer? I'm leaning toward 1 or 3. Whichever one I go with, I will make the jacket stripe have the same style end with the small separated piece.

Any thoughts?

Light Strip # 3

Yeah, I was digging #3 as well. The drawback is that the strip would have to be mounted directly to the leather (ruining it) and #1 would just be on the hard plastic toe cap.

Maybe I can come up with a way to protect it before I put the strip on. On the plus side, #3 would be a lot easier to wire since I can just go through the perf holes.
