Hello all.. wonderful projects going on here. In a late night StumbleUpon marathon this company called Elshine popped up and made me think of the lighting on the Tron costumes. Not sure if it will be of any use to anyone, but here you go just in case.. Prodotti
 
A small update for those of you following my progress. I got my LF/EL tape today. I have a 1" x 36" strip that I will be connecting to the Jacket and using the left overs (a little over 12") to do the boots. It is powered by a single 2xAA inverter from Glowhut.

Considering that it will be over a foot less once cut down, I'm very happy with the luminosity as it can even be seen in daylight. I can't really imagine it ever being much brighter. I plan on powering each boot independently with a 1x AA or maybe 2x AAA.

I must say other than the scribe line we all despise, the LF/EL is fantastic. It is very very white. Here are some pics of my mock setup on a random jacket. This is not my Flynn jacket, as the remake has not arrived yet.

^ Very nice! That 1" width looks spot-on; 0.5" (which I was considering) would probably look too pencil-thin. Maybe I'll use that for the less visible strip on the inside.

Agreed. I might get some of the .5 and put it around the inner sleeve openings, though.

I'm planning to use sew on velcro so I can just pull the seam and take it off, velcro and all, in the future. I was worried about the bulk height of it, but judging by Thormungandr's stuff, it won't be an issue.

On that note, Hey, Thormungandr! Any updates on that sweet white program you were designing for your buddy?

I was thinking the same thing too...would also make future upgrades or repairs easier--especially since it's just a straight line of EL tape.

Itching to see the v. 2 jacket, though! :)

Me too, ha! I'm sure I will be happy with it even if there is some small flaw. The last one was great, save those small details. Even if its half right, I'm cool with it. My biggest complaint was the incorrect layering.
 
I added a light strip on the inner flap but at this point in time I'm too busy to take and post a picture. Got a new job (medieval times) and its taking alot of my time away. Once I get my new undershirt for my outfit I'll take a picture of both costumes in action.

It just kinda looked a little out of place. I got one that had some vent holes in it and seemingly has some padding so it will look much better with the pants I got. But I wont be putting the el wire on my undershirt at least for now. Thanks for the interest and congrats:)
 
ATTENTION PROGRAMS:

For those of you who have not yet purchased EL tape but are planning on it, here is something to consider. The White/Pink tape cannot be covered with anything to make it appear white when off.

I have tried white paper, thin white fabric, masking tape, transparent white glass paint, white plastic tape, white gel transparency, and white cloth surgical tape. Every one of these caused the same two problems. Yes it was white when of, but when I turned it on the light now had a pink hue and was reduced in brightness significantly.

Unless someone out there has trick or material I hadnt thought of it looks like we have two options. Either do it Anisse's wayand just have enough power to be light up all the time, or go with White/Blue tape. I'm going with all day on becuase I have to have White lights. But just bear this in mind when getting ready to buy.

Thanks! I'm expecting to get the new updated one in the mail any day now. The boots will be here Tuesday. I'm hoping to have everything wired up and veclo'd on by Next weekend.

Just leave it on, you're in costume anyway, being lit up is part of it. Do like I'm doing, big honkin' battery Super Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery DC 12V 6300mAh | eBay :lol
