Tron Legacy Costume

Here's a little tip for anyone doing a flashback Flynn style jacket. I havent seen anyone mention it yet, but he has 2 strips of light on the jacket. There is one on the inner zipper flap facing OUTWARD, and another on the opposite side under the zipper facing INWARD. I checked back on the Joe K's director's jacket and you can tell. I'm not sure why we didn't notice before. Here's the screenshot and a little ms paint on the real jacket to explain what I mean.

Also, turns out the lights on Flynn's boots are not circles at all. Wish I would have waited to start on this stuff until I bought the film. Oh well, at least its easier to make now.

No, not yet. That one just shipped.... Did anyone bring up the lights on his boots yet? I just noticed it today. Looks like small sections of EL tape. Eaisier to work with, too.

That's not mine. Its just a pic of the actual Alpine Stars NYC jacket. You can find it in limited sizes online. Just google it. That was the base used in the movie with a few mods.

It's also pretty darn expensive, as I recall. I'm itching to see the repro.

How was the Unofficial TRON Fan Day at ElecTRONica?? Pictures? Did the Disney Secret Service come out and toss anyone? I know a few Jack Sparrow cosplayers who have been accosted by security at Disney World for being in costume and NOT a cast member.

Wish I could've gone! I'm still in the beginning stages of my costume so I wouldn't have had anything to wear but still it would be a blast. Should be starting soon on it when I get the financial end a bit more stable. Got plenty of time until Chicago con.

Those AlpineNYC Jackets, on average, cost about $250-$300 retail. :lol There are very similar ones at Burlington Coat Factory (I found a few in January that were almost dead on to these) for about $40-$60.

As to Flynn's Retro Boots, they are indeed covered with a plate of rectangular white ELTape/ELStrip. The plates look to be about 2in high x 3in long. Each seems to start at the heel, just about where the back and bottom of the ankle starts and is seperated by about 3in of black space along the spine of the heel. They are on both the inside and outside of the boot surface. watch the scene where Clu is about to kill Flynn and then ends up 'killing' TRON. Flynn is both seen on is rump & running away from the battle, both sides of the shoes shown from the side and from behind give a clear view of the layout.

Interesting side note.. In the Fight at the End of Line Club, Flynn's boots have a longer bar of light (a tad longer) and going from upper rear to lower front, where as the Retro Boots go lower rear to upper front in angle.

I probably missed the boat on those. I'll have to stop by the local Burlington Coat Factory to check, but there's nothing on their website right now.

Well for the short time I was there (i left before everyone actually went inside electronica. kinda sad really) we went on the haunted mansion after taking a picture outside the castle and everyone turned their discs on during the ride and over the loud speaker someone said "please turn your lights off" haha

I would guess the reason Disneyland security singles Annisse out and gives her a hard time when she goes is because of the following rule:

"Examples of unacceptable attire includes:...

...Adult costumes or clothing that can be viewed as a costume (children under age 10 are excluded)"

So, although other people might have light up clothing with her, they don't come across as being in a full on balls to the wall costume. And my guess as to why they would ban people from doing this, is so some pervert doesn't dress up in a homemade Goofy costume or something and try to convince children to sit on his lap.

Definitely sucks but, I can see why they would do it.

Had a great time tonight.
We met up at 5 and proceeded to light up the haunted house until we got the "please turn off all lighting devices" over the intercom. Took a spin on the thunder mountain railroad. Then got some ice cream before heading over to elecTRONica.
Then 17 of us got hooked up by lucy liu to go into the fast pass line for the group Tower of Terror shot. Hit up the arcade for a bit. I even got out and danced and I DON'T dance. Now I wish my annual pass wasn't expiring.

And no security guard even approached me while wearing this tonight:

Nice! Now I wish I didn't just get the 2 disc set. That mini disc would be a perfect size for my 4 year old's costume.
