Tron Legacy Costume

Feel like quitting this project due to time & cost constraints, I have been carving up an old foam pushbike helmet for a version of an arena disc wars helmet, am thinking of fibreglassing it for strength, any suggestions on method? auto filler and sanded back the fibreglassed, I think the fibreglass resin would eat the foam if applied directly to it.

Costume in it's early stages. Lights coming next.

Welcome to the Thread, Berg! You've been working on your "Blue Steel" look, I see. :)

Glowing is so dope and pricey! Is there anyone else who does reflective tape still?....

P.S. Anyone else going into the direction of Tron Style fashion like End of Line club? Berg19 looks ready to rave and kick ass. And few threads back a girl did and epic Quorra dress.

Thanks you sir! I couldn't agree more about the EL tape. It is expensive, risky, and cumbersome. I am going to be doing a combo of EL tape and Reflective tape. I did rig my light disc to stay on all the time using the LED lights that came with the toy. I just did some clever re-wiring and it stays all on the time no with an on/ off switch.

I wish I could go to the ElecTRONica party on Sunday. We live all the way in Augusta, GA. All there is to do here is watch golf -_-. This is why we can't wait for Dragon*con.

Is disney putting on anything special? I'm down for it

Its not official but fan run! Be part of a big pic in front of a castle. Meet other programs and maybe an occasional user.

Unofficial TRON Fan Day At Disneyland April 10th 2011

Its just like bat day, harry potter day, and star wars day. (harry potter is the only one with group activity scavenger hunt.) Except a lot people will be sporting their disc!

Remember everyone , "BRING YOUR IDENTITY DISC!"

For comic con my fiance and I plan on going as Gem and Castor. I've been putting the costumes on the back burner cuz I'm trying to get some orders out of the way first but I have been researching and thinking about them on and off. I've noticed that people are mentioning that Gem's costume was probably spandex or jersey covered in latex which would make sense as to why I can't seem to find any fabric even remotely similar to hers. I believe Annisse said she was going to spray the fabric first and then make the costume but what about making the costume and then spraying it on your body? Is there a difference or is one way better then the other? My main concern is that Gem has to be stitched together and I worry that stitching latex covered fabric wont work. But I also have no idea how I'm going to be able to control spray two different colored latexs' (sp?) in such small areas, especially the grey/silver.

As for Castor.....is his costume also covered in latex? I feel like it isn't because his outfit doesn't seem as shiny or smooth like Gem's is.....I'd almost venture to say that his could be made from leather or a nice pleather. But then it would be difficult to match the grays but when watching the movie it seemed like his gray was a bit off from Gems anyways.....Maybe I'm just imagining it. Any thoughts?? Has anyone made Castor yet?

Have you seen the Caster at elecTRONica? Its pretty darn good and only missing the chest armor. I had a friend who said they would use there tk stormtrooper chest as a place in.

Im might go but seeing as how my disc is gutted I wont have it on me at the event, but I would love to take pictures with you all to support the event.

I'm down for tron day. sporting a flynn styled jacket and my ID disk backpack.
About the only time I won't have my kid with me.

I see that my boyfriend (Berg19) posted some shots, but no details!

There's ALOT more detail in the armor that wasn't picked up on camera. The white parts are the "diffuser" where the lights might go. We're waiting for the bright blue reflective tape to get here to see what we light best. We might do a combo of EL Tape and reflective tape.

EL Tape, I'm noticing, is cumbersome and a pain. It's easy to wire, but applying it to something that needs to be freely moveable, is going to suck some major butt!
