Tron Legacy Costume

Before any pics of Castor had been leaked long ago, that was my first impression of his suit from the details I had been given. Should work great as a tails coat or other tux would rock with ELTape in key areas.

Yep. I am thinking probably 1/2 inch el tape with velcro on the back so I can use it on a rented tux. Looks like about $75 for the lighting.... plus velcro.... I think I will do it....

For the record, you can often buy a full tux, of very good condition and quality, off eBay for less than the cost of renting one. Why waste all that time working on something you will have to give away after just one use.

Well I have finished my jacket, HURRAY! Well the front anyway, I still need to figure out a way to get my disk mount stuck on the back. Then I just need to finish the leg guards, and get a pair of gloves. Anyone know were I can get some tight black meshy gloves?

Anyway here are a pair of pics.

Depending on the camera and the type of flash the tape either looks really white, or has a nice blue shade too it.

Looks good so far! For the disc mount, you could always use E6000 to glue it to the back of the jacket if you're not planning on using it for anything else. I'd try ebay for the gloves. If you're talking about the fingerless weight lifting type you can get them for under $10. I searched black mesh gloves and got 830 results, so it's a place to start.

I want fingers in them, and then I will snip some of them out(everything except middle, pointer and thumb). I sliced up the packging that the disk came in, as it is a great base, the problem is not much of it is "flat" enough to attach to a jacket. I am only using the jacket for this anyway so epoxying it would probably work.

Very nice! What make and width of EL material did you use?

I'm using the packaging as well for my hub, only I'm using just the center part and the angled part with the recesses for the little nubs. The rest is being constructed out of poster board and then paper mached so I'll have a flat back.

Yep its all reflective tape, I have a ten foot by six inch roll I got off ebay for $9. Even when not under a flash it looks great, as depending on the angle it either reflects light and "glows" or just has a nice rich blue to it.

The lower part is 1 inch thick, it widens to an inch and a half as it goes up. The slanting part is smaller, probably 3/4 or so of an inch. Not sure exactly. For the circles I traced around a 5/8' metal washer, it is an inch and a half in total diameter.

While I was at work I nabbed the top to a plastic container(I manage the books for a grocery store. It curves up and has a good amount of plastic to plastic contact with the other piece of plastic. I will then glue that to the jacket. I am using some magnets to attach the disk.

Got the boot toppers done, and I am going to try another thrift store run, looking for a belt, and some gloves.

Thanks for those measurements. Eyeballing the results on your jacket, I'm guessing 1-inch-wide EL panels will be my best bet.

Link to the tape type perhaps so we can see exactly what tape makes what sort of effects?

forgive me if anyone has already answered these questions but does anyone know where i can find any part of the siren gem costume? ie: wig and shoes (having a super hard time finding anything even remotely similar)
thanks in advance

The shoes were custom made for the movie, so you'd probably have to make your own or mod a pair of similar shoes.

here's a link to a long white wig Cosplay White Long Wig [OM100SH1001A] - $34.99 : Hello Cosplay : Cosplay Costumes :Cosplay Wigs

you can style it to look like a Siren's hair.

I hate to say, easiest way is to read all the pages. That being said, many have talked about checking ebay for the shoes. The shoes are not part of this years fashion (or something, I do not pay much attention to fashion trends)

Wigs are easy enough to find, but you're most likely going to have to style your own, which is going to involve a bit of wefting around the edges since just pulling it up into a bun is going to show the netting underneath and you'll need something to cover it. The shoes are the same; you're not going to find exact replicas. Just about everyone here has modded their own. Like techfreek said, it really is beneficial to read this entire thread, as long as it may take you.

Ahhh, yes.. I know that tape. Did test work with it back in Dec before I decided on UV reactive gaffers tape finally. TY for the info.

thanks guys! i was just being lazy. i knew having to read all the pages was inevitable.
kudos to all you guys on all the amazing things ive read and seen!
