Tron Legacy Costume

Oh....my...word...the movie was AMAZING! I'm definitely going back first chance I get to see it again. I was thoroughly impressed. It truly felt like Tron. :)

Sadly, I've had to put my Quorra costume on the backburner. My dad's decent salary got cut by 70% and my work hours got cut by 50%, so right now we're having a hard time paying for groceries. :unsure I'm still going to keep my original deadline of having my Quorra costume finished by September for Dragoncon (anyone here coming? :D)

Does anyone have any ideas on how in the world to make Quorra's costume from the hips up? (Sadly, I don't sew nor do I know anyone who has worked with latex.)

I got my gloves for the costume....only to find they don't fit! Is there a good glove pattern out there? I can't seem to find any sort of storebought gloves to work for this costume.

Helmet is in rough shape....going to tint the visor tonight.

Do you have any better pictures of your helmet? Either the rough vaccuform pulls or the finished version?

I wonder how hard it would be to do Rinzler's helmet.
It's so smooth without any major hard facets. :(

Welcome to the thread, Jem! Hope you find what you are looking for here. I know in the pages between 20-30 someone made a Siren costume for Halloween, but I don't remember where it is.

What I can recommend from watching the film last night is that it's basically a form fitting catsuit base, either lycra or patent pleather, with gray paneling at select spots, along with strategically placed strips of Elastolite. In your case I'd say getting some EL tape would be your best bet. As for the IdentiDisc, I saw on one of the threads around here that SpinMasters, who made the toys for the film, released a White Kevin Flynn IdentiDisc, so that'd save you the hassle of having to paint a new one. The Sirens also wore Wedge Boots that had a triangle cut out of the heel, but that can also be faked by putting a strip of something hard (Wood, plastic, foam) connecting the heel to sole on the boot. Aside from that it's all about hairstyle and attitude!

Let us know if you have any questions and make sure and show pictures when it's done!

are the sam flynn legacy suits blue or white lights? i cant decide in most of the promo shots or screen shots they look white and in the trailers they look kinda blue to my eyes

pretty sure they're blue. the color scheme of the original Tron was the "good" guys in blue and the "bad" in orange/red. looks like they've carried on that color scheme in TL, as the villains seem to be in orange/yellow and the heroes in blue.

someone may have already answered this, but i saw it and didn't feel like reading the next 10 pages haha. :)

Nope, they're white. Supposedly, there's delineations based upon the color, but the color scheme is as follows, based upon your style/personality:

Most Programs: Blue

Some Programs: Purple, Aqua, Green

Quorra/Sam/Kevin Flynn: White

Clu: Yellow-Orange

Clu's Cronies: Orange-Red

Disney has some hairbrained color scheme that can be found out and determined on their website for the film if you make a program of yourself, but it's true with lighting and angles, it can be hard to determine. But Quorra & Sam are definitely white colored EL, while Clu and His Minions are 2 different colors.

Jiminy Christmas: I'm sitting here refreshing this page every 5 minutes to see pictures of everyone's final costumes, but I know that even though the movie is over, you all are out drinking, celebrating, and having a good time!:p

Oh well, just'll have to wait a bit longer... :cool

Hope you guys had fun!

Here in my NYC group, our suits don't go on until tomorrow eve, so no pics until Sunday morning at the earliest. :confused

We'll get them up and for all to see very soon.

Amazing!!!

Who's right beside Annisse ( who is basically looking like perfection )? You are SO BRIGHT! I love it!! Haha The daft Punk costume really stands out too! But everyone here is incredible! I bet you's had a fantastic time! Jealous. :eek

Heading back to the airport now. You guys....simply rock. You made the trip so worthwhile, I'd do it again. Probably means if the group goes to San Diego ComicCon, I'll be joining you.

Stunning work folks.. just excellent indeed.

Makes me feel a bit 'underdressed' for tonight's NYC event. :rolleyes

:eek :eek :eek :eek :eek

You all look AMAZING. Every last one of you. I can't wait to see more, but Compass, you stole the show friend. You look virtually SA. :eek
Annisse, all the work you put into your costume SHOWS 100%. it's fantastically wondrous. ;)
Ares, your Daft Punk costume looks rad (VERY well done helmet), if only there was a Guy-Manuel de Homem-Chirsto to go along with your Thomas Bangalter! :D
Actordiver, I continue to love your helmet, I think it's really well done, as well as the unique green you're rockin'. Just awesome.:thumbsup
Steve, your guard costume is still one of the best TRON builds I've see, hands down, and your techniques helped me the most during the whole process.:)

Absolutely Fantastic and Amazing: Every last one of you. How I wish I could have been there and ache that I was unable to visit. Compass, I'm with you: if I end up going to SDCC, rest assured I will seek you all out because you're all ridiculously rockin' costumers and ludicrously awesome people!

I hope to see more photos, but not before I give everyone who contributed to this thread a standing ovation.

:thumbsup :thumbsup

I know this may seem like an odd question but how tall is Annisse? She looks like an Amazon in that photo! *thumbs up*

I'm with jyhash, I wish I could've been there with you guys. I had a friend graciously send me an elecTRONica shirt from LA so I could wear it to the premiere. That was about it from my side.

Still, amazingamazingamazing job everyone!

Annisse was very tall, and those boots didn't help any. I'm 5' 9" if that gives you an idea. The staircase at the Hardrock helped even the scale a little. Can't wait to see the photos...

I just wanted to expand on the idea of the tron suits and give some more ideas for those that are looking to make them for this coming year.

As discussed earlier the main suit is neoprene, however what some may be missing is that you can glue a layer of lycra or latex to either of the neoprene. This is how swimmer suits are made, you can actually buy the neoprene in sheets with either lycra or latex. So this way you can either A) have your own tailor made or B) buy a cheep ont off the interenet.

What I am suggesting here is that it be considered that you could make a double layer of the neoprene suits. This will allow you to have the base suits (full body) and then the top suit (what is made of foam latex for the original suits). The top suit you will be able to cut out any pattern you want. Also you could make it even simler by just gluing and/or sewing latex on top of the suit.

These neoprene suits with lycra are much better than lycra alone since they do not wrinkle, give a better fuller body structure, etc.

Here are a few examples and IMO this is where found some ideas for the suits in the movie.

As you can see the way they are cutting and the places they are sewing make the suit fit and look better.
