I have done my white glow paint from Risk Reactor tests and not satisfied with the results. I used 2 layers of Gesso white acrylic as a primer on the grey reflective tape I had left over, forget it, the grey tones of the reflective tape do not get covered up entirely and look patchy with even 3 layers of glow paint on top of that. FYI: all reflective properties of the tape will be gone.
Then I tried some white masking tape, painted it with one layer of gesso and then 8 layers of glow paint. When I charged the strip under light for a bit then too it to a dark room, it looked all blocthy and choppy meaning even after all those layers of glow paint, I was not getting a nice paint job glow effect. It was patchy, some dark patchiness showing up on my strip in between the glow effect. Basically looked like crap and doesn't glow for very long even after charging the strip for 30 mins. under light.
Now, I was using a brush with bristles it was an old used up brush from previous projects. I am hoping this is what is causing all that patchiness when I was painting my test strip. I am going to give the white masking tape one more test try but going to use a brand new foam brush instead, no bristles, and hope this will get rid of the patchy look of painting the glow paint on. Now I Need A Big Black light to Charge Up The Paint!
Yeah, but if you have grey reflective tape, please do not waste your time painting over it with the glow paint, it is too dark to saturate the primer and glow paint even with many layers. Cover it up with white masking tape 1st.
I will let everyone know my final results of testing with a foam brush this time. If this works, that means I will have to add white masking tape over my reflective grey tape on my costume.
If this doesn't work, then yeah, going with the EL WIRE. I almost kinda want to, sounds alot easier than dealing with adding 8 or more layers of glow paint to all that reflective tape on my costume. I have another idea to add to Daniel's EL WIRE work he did.
I WANT TO LIGHT UP!!!!!!!! ;D
