Tron Legacy Costume

If you have any extra of those magnets left, I will take them off your hands ;) I totally need better magnets on my disk to hold it done and want to replace them.

Thanks!

You can buy strong Neodymium magnets at places like Storables. They are just super high powered refrigerator magnets.

If this holds up to dancing i will be surprised. The bends at the knees i dont think will articulate enough without a expansion joint. Usually a piece of regular black wire in a 1-2" loop soldered between pieces would probably help. That way the loop can expand and contract when you bend, and the look of the EL shapes wont be noticeably different. You might try that? If you just plan on standing around then you might be ok as is.

Great job though on the look of blending in the EL wire and Vinyl. I purchased reflective tape for my costume since i will be dancing a bunch but would love to go the EL route. Doubt i will have time.

i found that the best primer for glow paint is simple WHITE ACRYLIC paint.
Seal it off with a flexible sealer (mod podge or similar)

Great! Well I will try two reflective strip tests today with my acrylic white Gesso paint and acrylic white titanium paint with the glow paint layers. Thanks so much!

I'm doing a CLU sentry. I just goot a motorcycle helmet in flat black. The have some on clearance at www.revzilla.com. I'm going to light it with RED EL wire. I want to try using the clear vinyl strips to hold the wire in pace on the helmet. The wires go to the connector through the small air vents on top of the helmet. Should be easy enough!:rolleyes

I was talking about the weird egg-shaped looking helmets like this one: http://www.filmofilia.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/tron_legacy_image_01-535x518.jpg

DID YOU FIND SOMETHING IN THAT STYLE?? IF SO, PLEASE POST!!!!!!!!

Dear Nemesis,
I looked to find a helmet in those shapes. So hope this helps out. Sam's helmet is basically a bicycle helment. The hard part is finding a clear cover to cover the helmet & the face. I tried finding Police riot gear helmet. They usually have a large face plate. I was going to heat it an then shape it over the Bicycle helmet. And then cut the holes out. But the shields I find are to small. As far as RINZLERS helmet. A Small motorcyle helmet(Flat Black) + a clear shield(Bicycle Helmet in Clear?) You then have to put very dark tint over it. Two helmets in other words. That's one is similar to the Clu's sentry. I'm going to have to tint the shield on my helmet. I did find some that look similar on REVZILLA, but the're way to expensive.
For those looking for the white vinyl sheets. I found some cheap shower curtains out of the same material. $3.99 +tax. And for those looking for the white rings painted on the outfits;I found curtain rings for $9.99 at bet bath and beyond. They are about 2" inch rings. A tad smaller than what ANNiSSE is using. I could't find flat ones, but It'll do the trick. I'm not good at doing circles. Who cares if they stick out a little bit. I still have to buy the Neoprene fabric though! I have to go to JOANNS' to find it though. So much to work on and such little time. I'm taking a break. Happy hunting!

I saw it at Target, I was not impressed. Looks HUGE and cheap. I'll be making my own.

that what i though, but from what i gather its atleast the right lenght, cause sams should be the length of his thy
the problem is is that we dont have any good shots of Sams right side so we cant tell just how big its suppose to be.
ill probably get it for fun and referance then make a new one if need be

Quorras will need to be made no matter what cause hers is tiny

Dear Members,
I'd like to share something that might be pretty funny. I found the hexagon shaped material stareing right in front of me at my Eye doctors office. The hex pattern was on two chairs. I guess we'll all have to go to an upholstery store now. HA!HA! It looked pretty cool. But I don't think I can wear it!

Yeah, I called the Disney store and will pick one up tomorrow also (if it closes and opens)

I have some ideas to add LED lights and possibly el wire

Dear ACTORDIVER, the baton does open up. Youll have more than enough room for EL Wire & led's. This is something I haven't even started on! The compartment opens up,but there a total of 4 screws on each side(L&R).
Good luck.:lol

Well, we know for a fact that the disc diameter is 9". Judging from this photo, since the baton is at an angle, I would say it is no more than 10" at most.

That's the thing, since Daniel made his EL WIRing on those neoprene pieces, they are totally indepedant off his body. If he chooses to sew them onto his suit or glue them down. I think since there is this seperation, his EL WIRE job might be a little more resistant to breaking when moving around alot, ie:dancing, in the joint areas of the body. I wish him luck because his work is looking very good!

i would be careful measuring in this way.. Because of the angle it will make the baton appear shorter. I would rather compare the measurement of the disk to the actors height - leg ratio.. This would be more acurate

Hello,

Can someone that has the identity disk please measure the inside diameter across? I need to know how the sizes of the opening. I might be replacing my homemade disk with this new and improved one ;P

Thanks so much!

Is that Storables online? never heard of it before? THX!

Like I mention earlier, rare earth magents are preety strong. I fear if I put too many I may have major difficulties removing my disc. Especially if i have to dispatch anyone in the grid. :lol

I definately need some of those magnets YO!!! Oh an forget about taking the disk off yourself. I have to ask someone to take it off for me, I can't reach behind my back with that armour I made :p yeah, real movie like LOL! Help me take my disk off!

and, I will dispatch you from the Grid ;)

Yeah, Its pretty big, I've already taken it apart to look at the inside definitely enough room to play around and light it up. I may even cut it down and re-glue it.

Annisse,

The inner circle is 4 5/16" across

Hi there,

The diameter of the circles I made are about 2 and 1/4". I got 2" width reflective tape so going with a 3" tape would be better and more to play with for the curved shapes. I just drew on the tape with a pencil, for the curved shapes I needed, and just cut them out. Worked out great, so yeah go with a 3" width reflective tape if you are going down that route.

Great! Thanks for the info!
