Tron Legacy Costume

Oof, I'm afraid those black wedges would be way out of my range, that's for sure! But those siren shoes are mighty tempting...if only shipping to the US wasn't a bear! I'm going to keep hunting on ebay and see what wedges come up...Too bad these didn't come in white! GUESS Sharika (Black Patent) - Wedges Dress Shoes review at Kaboodle

Yeah there are kind of pricey. :( They were the closest I could find! So many Shoes! :confused

I found these too, but they have the same issue as the Guess Sharika shoes you found. If only they were white...Women shoes Pierre Dumas NIB - eBay (item 280484364297 end time Jan-19-11 12:14:36 PST)

Those black wedges you found are great! I think I had seen those too, but they are so expensive, and they look like they may not be comfortable to be walking around all day. Here's some other ones that I thought were cool, except they're not leather: Fitzwell Lyra Low Wedge Black Stretch - Zappos.com Free Shipping BOTH Ways
Actually, I think I might return the ones I got because they were horribly uncomfortable, and get these!

Yeah, I wish they weren't so pricey. :unsure If only those were leather or pleather!
The fitzwell ones have a gel padding inside the boot for extra comfy-ness! :)

That shop of Sam and Quorra is bad ass!!! Thought I missed seeing that pic on that site, it looks so good! Gonna post it to Olivia's Twitter page. She is probably going to freak outand think these fans are nuts, or love it and say thanks :p I would be flattered personally but who knows how much crazy stuff she gets in her messages everyday :p

A VVVVVEEEERRRYYYY THIN 'Girdline' between ADMIRERS and 'FANATICS' I say - Olivia gotta know that. She probably mostly appreciate it all - from AFAR(and with enough SECURITY protecting her). :lol

and here I thought Olivia was a total white girl and my skin tone doesn't really match for Quorra's skin tone in my costume. She isn't as white as I thought. It was just all that makeup. I knew they used it on her face but didn't know it was even on her shoulder. Check out her arm and shoulder. Very cool makeup effects. It was all MAC makeup they used on both her and the Sirens I believe.

It is also nice to see how the arm armor was mounted on her. I sewed my glove part to the upper shoulder HEX material part. Looks like her gloves were a seperate piece and velcroed to the HEX material. I think I am now going to be redoing my arm armor like this. Will be much easier dealing with getting the rest of my costume on.

These pics are...AWESOME! Its so neat seeing behind the scenes photos like these! And great reference pics for when doing Quorra and siren make up. So Awesome! ^_^

I see the Velcro on her sleeve, I think I want to try the same idea with my Quorra Costume. It seems much easier to get in and out of! :)

The latest issue of Cinefex magazine has an awesome (long) in depth article, which has a lot of information on the building of the suits, and setups for the lighting etc. The magazine is aimed at industry professionals, so doesnt do any 'dumbing down' in terms of the information. Worth ordering!

Britt, (and all other girls looking to make Siren shoes) has anyone suggested getting some cheapie wedge heels and using a dremmel or a drill to cut out the holes from the solid heel?

I don't know about the kinds of materials nor the construction of women's heels, so I really don't know if they would be sturdy or stable after cutting the shapes out. But considering there's no exact replica Siren shoe around; if it were me, that's what I would do.

Just trying to throw some ideas around!

:)
aelynn000, thanks for the kind words! Glad you like the dress. Here's a pic in better light, where you can see some of the details better. You can see the lighting on the back in the reflection in the window.

Annisse, EL film is not Light Tape (which, I assume, is EL tape). But it's basically the same thing, but in rectangular sheets instead of a long strip. I used 7/16", but after seeing the movie I might end up making it narrower, since Quorra's narrow strips look pretty narrow in the movie. I used the film at 1 1/4" width.

You're right about perfectionism! I look at the dress and all I see is all the things I wanted to do, but didn't have time for before the movie. It's a curse. :lol From the looks of your awesome work, it's obvious you know what I mean!

BTW, don't get your EL tape from All Electronics! I tried some of their stock, and it's crap. They sell used EL tape, which must be at the end of its lifespan, because it is very dim.

OMG, I freaked when I saw this!! Quorra is pretty much my favorite character ever. I cut and dyed my hair like hers, and I made a really crappy costume with glow in the dark fabric paint to go to the midnight release. I LOVE the hair, and I was going to try to make a better costume for Fan Expo 2011 in Toronto in August, but unfortunately I am not going to be able to due to lack of funds, lol. I am engaged to a Canadian & not allowed to work there until we're married. So, I'm unemployed, and every dime is going into the wedding. I still intend on making one for Fan Expo 2012, but needless to say I was disappointed. After this very long-winded explanation, I just wanted to say, thank you for lifting my spirits by posting this freaking awesome costume!!! This is my favorite style of dress anyway, but this is incredible! It is without a doubt my favorite costume of anyone/thing EVER!!! It's super freakin' awesome, and I am super freakin' jealous! 'nuff said. :D

Not really that messy and if youve only got a really short amount of time it works rather well.

If you use it directly on fabric it is decent for a very SHORT term costume.
Don't use it on rubber though.. most paints just crumble off... unless you get car paint in glow colors

i have been playing with a 9ft bit of white el wire and i can't seem to get it to diffuse always shows as a clear line through frosted shower curtain & white card :s, for clothing i am think of using lengths of medical oxygen tubing (thank you work :p) and gluing to fabric and running cable down tubing, that way if breaks or damaged i can pull wire out and put new one in viola!

did you put tin foil behind the wire and then the shower curtain on top and then white fabric or tape on top of the shower curtain???????

To those looking for Siren shoes, I stumbled across some shoes while searching for Tron Alan Bradley. :lol You've probably seen these already but I thought I pass them on in case not. All of the shoes would need modding, particularly to the upper part of the shoes, and a color change, but the heel looks similiar to the siren shoes.

Again, I'm gonna ask for help with my costume idea. Someone mentioned helping me on Twitter but is no longer replying so I'm assuming I should try here again.

My goal is to find a good base (still need suggestions on that since wetsuit apparently isn't a good choice), cut out the shapes from white thin vinyl (i.e. shower curtain), attach them to the suit, run EL wire along the middle of the shapes/lines, and cut out identical lines and shapes and lay it over top of the first strip + wire to form a pocket sort of idea.

Anyone that could help with ideas on if that'd work, it's be great. Thanks.

A lot of people just run the wire along the edge of the curtain and lay electrical tape over it (but not on the inner part of the wire as it must be exposed to shine over the vinyl). But having a pocket idea isnt bad

Hey! So this is exactly what I did to diffuse my lighting on my Quorra suit.

Follow Eddie's method. He is the one that came up with this method on how to diffuse the El Wire to get it to look like a solid strip like the movie suits.

His instructions are right at the top of this page, 42, on 43, I posted some of my beginning test phase progress pics of my diffusing process.

If you follow his pic diagrams here, you can't go wrong. As far as what type of materials to use for your actual suit. Some of the members here used motorcross suits and neoprene as the base to attach the diffuse El Wire lights strips onto.

If you also backup to previous page posts before this one, you can read up on the progress of how everyone planned on building their suits.

Good Luck! :)

Soulinertia, I have a lordly idea for a twin Rinzler disc kit.

The goal: To have a working, magnetic, fully lit, back mountable disc set capable of separation.

So as I was planning out my Rinzler discs modifications, I got to thinking. I really like your translucent C and Blade rings, and I want to incorporate that into the plans. However, I really want the two disc setup but I don't want the bulk of two full sized discs stacked on each other. So the idea is to take a sinlge regular Blade ring and cut it in half (or cut half of the width off it, keeping the 6 inner mounts and making a mold of that, and possibly adding more LED mounts to it in the process), then build a flat backing that's mounted with neodymium "earth" magnets so it can sit flush and be the same size when stacked up against another disc half. This would require both sides of the discs to be made primarily from the electronics housing sides. Also in the plans, I would like to add neodymium magnets to the 4 holes that are found in the center ring, as they are perfectly sized for this and would be used to attatch to a suit's ring peg thing. And for the flat magnetic backing, I would like to add yet another ring modled from the bottom C ring that incorpotates the dash-spaced LED's which are seen in the movie (as they have a different lighting pattern than the top C ring.)

I know you are probably swamped with orders and requests and people asking for your time concerning Tron parts and their creation. However, I am confident that this is a winning idea and I would like you to consider it for a future project. I am coming to you with this because I have no resources, experience, or tools to create this on my own, and your stuff is some of the most impressive and accurate work I've seen. I would do whatever would be required to help make this a reality, if not only for myself but for all the Tron fans who would like screen accurate working Rinzler discs. Please let me know what you think, and write back at your earliest convenience. Thank you.

p.s. I am also posting this directly in the main forum so there is some kind of time stamp as to when I wrote this, and also to kind of protect myself in case someone tries to jack the idea. I am new around the site and although I've lurked awhile, I don't know who's trustworthy and who's not. So I guess this s a public patent pending intellectual property post. :D

Hey all,

The bf posted some v1.0 photos of his Tron Dress earlier. He's upgraded it to v2.0 this past week for a party we went to, so I thought I'd throw up some photos showing the changes - EL wire trim on the petals of the dress, and a heart-shaped identity disk:
