Three Amigos Costume Build

Well, here's tonight's updates:

Picture one is the back of my (Ned's) jacket all set and ready. Most of the jewels are flat backed mirror backed rhinestones while the arms coming off of the circle are black and silver sequins (continuing the look from the hat).

Picture two is all three of our sombrero's prepped and ready sans the bola cord.

Picture three is Lucky Day's sombrero.

Picture four is Dusty Bottom's sombrero.

Picture five is the initial painting of Dusty Bottom's jacket back. The bedazzling will happen this week.

42 days till DragonCon! I need 42 weeks.

You are going to eventually upload a video of you doing 'My Little Buttercup', right ? Right ??? :lol

Seriously though, without that, it doesn't count :lol

Fantastic costume coming along there :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

Thanks Alan. Yes, I think a video of My Little Buttercup is definitely in the works as well as Blue Shadow's on the Trail also. :)

I appreciate the compliments folks.

Small update tonight.

Picture 1: Lucky Day's jacket back is painted. Now, time for the jewels to be placed. Lucky has a very interesting and complex jacket back but his sleeves are going to be KILLER!!!

Picture 2: Ned's jacket front. The more I work on Ned's suit, the luckier I know I as it is, overall, the easiest I think. I have the easiest jacket I'm sure. Anyway, some bottom trim (actually already applied, but no photographed) and then I'll be able to focus on the sleeves of this piece. After that, the back of the collar and I can call it done. Lots of jewels to add to the front of this one though.

Progress is moving along quite well as the gun belts for myself and Lucky are on the way next week. A few diamond and circle spots on those and change out the belt buckles, and we'll have those complete. Lastly, I ordered some more bola cord to make the tie cord for the sombreros. 7mm was just way to big and I didn't have enough. So, 5 yards of 3mm should be just fine.

I guess its time to start learning the music while working on this project. Two hour dedication per night is paying off.

What a tremendous amount of work! Those are looking fabulous!

You need an El Guapo and an El Jefe!! Several years after this movie, El Jefe traded his sombrero for a tricorn and his bandolier for a baldric and became a famous pirate captain!?
‪Three Amigos-What Is A Plethora?‬‏ - YouTube

Saw The Three Amigos long after being acquainted with Captain Jack Sparrow, and El Jefe looks the part from the neck up and sure seems the Spanish equivalent in many ways. However, since TTA preceeds CJS by more than a decade and a half, maybe a certain actor pulled inspiration from El Jefe, but just won't admit it.....

Of course if you let El Guapo and El Jefe in, then you'd need some horses, and Carmen, and a German, a singing bush......well, guess you have to draw the line somewhere!

That really is some stunning work all that sliver detailing. First one to go blind wins :lol cause he gets to quit!!!

Thanks for the compliments. I'm worried about what's going to happen when the first pictures are taken and all the rhinestones reflect. We might burst into flames!

Here's a quick update for tonight. We tried to make some significant progress tonight and I think we did good.

Picture 1: The front of my (Ned's) jacket after bedazzling. This is pretty much the look of the front of the jacket. Next, I'll have to connect the front and back designs with the paint as it is in the movie and then do the sleeves one at a time. I also need to trim out the back of the collar, but you can't see it in this picture.

Picture 2: Lucky's jacket back after bedazzling. This thing had a lot of rhinestones on it.

Picture 3: A closeup of my circle design on the front of Ned's jacket. I exploited this a bit as I thought it needed something so I took a couple of liberties, but I cannot seem to find consistency in the movie jacket. I swear it looks like it changes sometimes (possibly lighting issues).

Picture 4: A side shot of Lucky's jacket. Again, we're moving on to the front next.

I hope y'all enjoy.

This is really coming along great. Can't wait to see the rendition of My Little Buttercup...

:)

A few update pictures for the night

Picture 1: Lucky's jacket and sombrero on model. This i pretty much the finished look of the back of Lucky's jacket. The shoulder's will spill over a bit, but there won't be much more.

Picture 2: The partially painted sleeve of Ned's jacket. I'm having to do this in sections due to the curves on the sleeve and my very high desire not to smear the paint.

More to come soon as I've been informed the final two gun belts will be ready next week.

No.......I've never made it out to the big Cali Convention. I save up for DragonCon. Besides, if I were at Comic Con, I wouldn't have time to work on stuff for DragonCon. One year though.....I'll make the trek. :)

You are so lucky that DragonCon is local for you. I've really got to move!

(At least NYCC isn't too far for me)

Well, here's tonight's updates!

Picture 1: Ned's coat has the sleeves and shoulder faces done. I've still got to bedazzle the shoulder faces, but that will be done once the paint dries. I need to connect the cuff designs around behind the wrists and then the small connection designs under the arms on the torsoe of the jacket and we should be done. I'm still playing around with the idea of a bit of extra bedazzling, but we'll see.............

Picture 2: This is the right shoulder face.

Picture 3: I have the jacket on a dress form for positioning and seeing how things fall. The gun belt is actually Dusty Bottoms' belt, but mine should be in next week.

Kyle got Lucky Day's jacket front panel painted and he'll be bedazzling tomorrow after he does the lapel designs. Then, its on to the sleeves. Hopefully, by the end of next week, we will have three complete jackets and can move on to the pants. However, I think the hardest part is behind us as the pants feature a less intricate design................mostly! :unsure

Looks fantastic! I am only disappointed that i dont currently have access to the film, lol. This will definitely be something i will be keeping an eye out for at dragoncon

A couple of update pictures from last nights weekend closing work.

Picture 1: Kyle (Lucky Day) showing off the front of the jacket he'll wear. Next up, his lapels and sleeves. The sleeves and shoulder faces on Lucky Day's jacket are very intricate! Good luck Kyle. I'm glad its you and not me.

Picture 2: The back of Lucky's jacket bedazzled.

Picture 3: Lucky (Kyle) and Ned (me) showing off the jackets and sombreros as they stand now.

Picture 4: The jacket and sombrero backs!
