Three Amigos Costume Build

thanks for the complement, we are doing a western group for dc. i hope you guys would join our little group!

Well, the last of the stuff has come in except for the other two gunbelts. I'm pleased with the gun belt that came in. I had to wait a bit for it. Hopefully, the other two will come sooner. I've got the coats, boots, and the material to do the cumberbuns and ties. I put the suspender buttons on the pants tonight. I should have some progress pictures soon.

Cut the coats down tonight and went ahead and made the cumberbuns. The gun-belt has been adorned with the diamond spots. I've got to get some better pictures of that one as I've got the holster completed now, but I've included a picture. Other two gun-belts on are on the way and I've finally isolate a belt buckle for Lucky Day along with assorted other detail pieces.

And.......for your viewing pleasure...............an unembelleshed photo of the cut down jacket without its hem put in or any "bedazzling" yet.

More pictures to come........

Started casting some .45 Colt ammo tonight. I took precautions in the molding process to prevent a heat discharge of the original piece. The real round you see below has been pulled, smokeless powder emptied out and the primer discharged and then the bullet has been reloaded into the cartridge casing. In the real world, I deal with firearms for a living and am wary of an accidental, heat related discharge should my silicone mold go through a heat cycle (which it does and I didn't want to chance it).

Anyway, below you can see the original and the cast. I'm trying something now where I put silver paint/dust in the mold to see if I can cast and color at the same time. Might have to make a trip to the Engineer Guy (The Engineer Guy) (Free plug for Nelson) for a bit of casting supplies for a aluminum cold cast.

Anyway, we are one step closer. I need 83 of these. Once I get a few more pulls, I'll make another box mold and be able to mold ten at a time.

denix replica and a colt lightning, my lightning is been demilled, so it was real at one time.

These are molded off of a real round, so they won't fit a Denix. I just tried! :) However, they look good in the belt loops.

The gun belt was made by a leather maker on E-bay. I added the diamond spots and the belt buckle myself. I'm having two more made by another leather craftsman along the same lines. I'll do the establishments myself.

Also, just a quick update on the suits. All jackets are cut and tailored. All cumberbuns are made. So, base suit is ready. Let the bedazzling begin.

This is one of my all time favourite films! I have just finished making an exact copy of Adam Ant's Hussar Jacket and believe me, the sense of achievement was awesome after nearly a year of hand sewing all that swirly braid, but it's not an experience I'd care to repeat!!! Mexican hats off to you, as it looks great!

Just a quick update to show off the first bedazzling shots of the Ned Nederlander sombrero decorations. The flash on the camera does a good job at washing out this photo, but I adorned the design with silver and black sequins. It's the only thing that could give me the pseudo-look from the film. There is a silver pearl in the center.

Just another update on where we stand. All three Amigo's have their sombrero designs done and bedazzled. I found flat backed rhinestones today at Hobby Lobby on sale ($7.55/pound). I bought two pounds of them. They are multiple sizes and this should allow me and the gang to bedazzle properly. I got the design drawn out on my collar and back of the bolero jacket. I also completed the application of my sombrero designs to the hat.

Picture 1 is the bolero jacket back design I did with a school compass and then pretty much freehanded everything else. I temporarily placed the rhinestones on it to get the look before I painted it.

Picture 2 is Ned's sombrero with the designs applied. I used Frabri-Tac glue to accomplish this. It worked VERY well.

Picture 3 is me.........(yes I know I look nothing like Nederlander) with the sombrero on.

Picture 4 is the jacket after application of the paint. The white dots are the pins holding the fabric in place to the underneath cardboard form.

Picture 5 is the new Denix replica bullets I put in the gunbelt.

Anyway, here's the latest. Tomorrow, we should have some major jacket work done and are already sighting in the sleeves and then, on to the pants.
