Three Amigos Costume Build

Hint on boots, try craigslist or ebay if you need really cheap

Ebay is a possible source, but I'm a stickler for good, comfortable boots/shoes for costumes. I will pay a bit extra to have good footwear. Just my thing. I walked a 2 mile parade one time in crappy pirate boots.............never again. My cutlass may be plastic, but my boots are top level.

I've identified some nice looking Justin ropers for about $60.00 and they are multi-use boots. I can wear them for regular outings as well as costume boots. So, we are going with those.

Any pics yet? Just posted a seperate thread before seeing this one. Very interested in your progress!

Thanks. No pictures as of yet. I'll probably put up some before "bedazzling" shots once the jackets and pants arrive. The shirts have arrived and now I just need to get the jacket, pants, boots, cumberbun material, suspenders and holsters. Then, we will have everything!!!

Guys the suits are not all rhinestones, there are covers with a glittery rope like detail, kind of like a doyle.
The suits are called Charro suits, which is basically a Fancy Mexican Cowboy.

If you want to get legit with this, you can find the correct pants and jacket and hat, and take it or send it to a Charro suit place and have them embelish it like the real deal.

Here are some linke that may help.

Thanks for the links. Those are eye opening. I knew they were this style, but frankly, didn't want to invest that much in them. My thoughts are to try and get the effect with the puff/glitter paint as much as possible with some small rope effects and rhinestones along the way. I'll accent with silver paint makers, etc.

As for the deluxe Amigo costume..............uhm............no. :)

The suspenders and pants have been ordered. I went with western style, boot cut flat front pants. With that, the only thing left are boots and cumberbun material. Then..............time to add embellishment, arguably, the most difficult part of this whole process.

Revolvers have been painted. Here's some before, sizing and after shots. Given these Denix replicas had wooden grips, I knocked the varnish off with a quick sanding and taped them off really well. I should have primed the grips first, but used Krylon spray paint (no primer needed). Still, with the porous wood, it soaked up the first two coats of pain like crazy. After two more coats, they looked pretty nice. I did not put a layer of Krystal Krylon over them. Perhaps I should have, but we'll see. For your viewing pleasure, the revolvers. Hopefully, the holsters will be in soon.

Small, tiny thing. Suspenders arrived today. I'll have to sew buttons on the pants, but that's no issue. I might let one of the other amigo's practice their sewing skills.........or at least learn some new ones!

this is going to rock........

Thanks man. It won't rock as awesome as that Red Skull you just did. I was seriously thinking about one of your masks as that is a costume I've always wanted to do.

However, I did just get the jackets today for the Amigo's. Let the bedazzling begin!!!!!! All sparkly GLOW!!!

Can't wait to see the finished product. One of my favorite movies!:lol:lol:lol

BTW! You need a fourth friend to dress up and play the part of "El Guapo!" Wouldn't be right for the Three Amigos to be running around without an adversary!!!:):)

Looking for full length picture of El Guapo I came across these amigos!

Made the purchase of three tuxedo jackets today. Hopefully, sizes will work out. Got two with shawl style collars and one with peaked collar for Lucky. We're almost there. All that's left is to acquire the material to make the cumberbun.

Jesse

Cumberbun and tie material purchased yesterday morning. Also, nabbed my pair of roper style boots. The other amigo's will get their own. I decided to make the ties and cumberbuns out of the same material as I couldn't really match what I had already with the fabric at JoAnn's. Shouldn't be too hard. I plan to generate those pieces in the next couple of weekends and also, begin to tailor the jackets to fit properly. Then, let the puff pain puke!
