Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Torso Pics Up - Chest/Back and Abs! - 4/24

Any ideas on smoothing down the seams and the glue that makes a mess? I hit a test piece with dremel.. it was too aggressive. Unless of course I should use a different bit or something. Maybe a hand held planer?

This is a shot in the dark, I have no experience with the foam you use, and it might re-melt the glue...but maybe something like this hot wire foam cutter??:

Cool idea. But would deff be too dramatic of a "shave" lol.. and it would probably melt the glue. My seems aren't that messy.. it might not even show after a couple coats of plasti dip. So I might just do some light sanding with a fine grit paper.

I just cut it out with an exacto knife, and trim it with manicure kit scissors.

Use a heat gun on the seams:)

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll try some stuff out once the whole suit is built. I managed to construct about 2/3rd of the cod piece last night. So expect pics tonight of the cod and hip pods.

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Hip now complete - 4/29

Small update. Didn't get that much done last night. Kinda got bummed about some things.. none the less here is an updated pic. Things will make sense proportion wise once the hip pods and width of thighs come into play.

Jordan, that's looking really good! I shouldn't have come in this thread, i'm going to get the bug to build a new suit! :lol

No offense intended, but are you going to be able to fit in that waist section? I mean, it looks really good and in proportion, but it looks like a tiny little fit. Have you tried it on?

Either way, i'm really impressed. Good work, keep it up!

ha! it does look tiny.. but this mannequin is my body shell made from duct tape and stuffing. I also tried the pieces on last night. Everything fits. You gotta remember that it's hard to see size. But I am 6'2" and about 200 lbs.. with a 36" waist so it seems small in proportion.. but the chest is huge. Optical illusion I guess you could say.

6'2"? Lucky. At least you'll fit the size of Iron Man.

I'm 5'6". Last year i looked like a very impressive, but miniature, iron man. :lol

Keep up the good work!

That is all kinds of beaeutiful. I don't think that you even have to paint it. It looks good as is.

Did you use pep as a pattern for the foam?
