Witch King of Angmar (WIP)

This is what I was using for reference, pulled these off of kropserkel on instagram.
Elbow flare looks a bit bigger here

the pattern looks good. you’ve done an awesome job on them!

(Did this one show up???)
Yes it did and for some reason I can see your older one as well know.. maybe it was just a one off bug or some syncing issue? No idea.

On another note, sword just arrived!
I love it and can't wait to start working on it! The printers did a fantastic job imo, only issue is that I ordered a 1 meter carbon fiber rod based off them telling me the inserts slot was that long. But looks like the slot goes all the way through the most pointy end of the blade onto the handle decorative part. So it's atleast 140cm and I have to order another one, but it's fine lol.

Pics (with a foot for reference?)

I ordered some old shoes from a second hand item app and painted them with angelus leather paint. I already made some sabatons with different shoes, but these shoes were very chunky (platforms) and didn't fit the aesthetic as well as these imo. So I will probably have to redo the sabatons with these new (old) shoes.

Got these shoes 2 sizes too big as well so I can comfortably add some inserts/lifts. Was thinking of making the lifts with eva foam. Any tips or advice is welcome, they're pretty loose fitting right now!

Small update as I have mostly been tweaking the template for the pauldrons, started out with a basic sketch and gradually made changes to make it look like the movie version.
I will make these out of 5mm eva foam as well with glued undercuts for the ridges.

Used this picture the most for reference:

Just one part to go and probably some more tweaking but pretty happy so far.

Hi all, today I glued the seam together, drew lines on the bottom for the undercuts and cut them. Then glued with contact glue, heat gun for shaping and added 2 foam strips to hold shape. Think I might need to hide the seam a bit more but I'm happy so far.

Thanks all!

I've been doing more work on the pauldrons, some more shape tweaking and I made the segmented plates smaller to fit better. Also added the neck guard and used kwik e filler for the ridges ( need to do the plates still).

I'm very happy with how it's looking so far, honestly didn't expect my own templates to turn out this well.

The duct tape will be replaced with leather strap and probably chicago screws when I have primed and painted the pieces.

As I am a bit of a perfectionist, I have been researching what kind of accesoiries belong with the costume, or would at least go well with it.
I have purchased this belt for example, which is a medieval style belt which looks enough like the screen used belts for the Nazgul so that I can get away with it, especially after weathering and aging I would assume.

For convencience at cons I also got a pouch like the one below:

Now I have been researching the 'ultimate' acessory, the Witch King's Ring of Power. I have seen some replica's like the one in the pictures below. But I don't think there is any official canon appearance for the Witch King's Ring of Power, since it is never seen in the movies either I believe?
If someone knows more about this than me please feel free to jump in. I couldn't find any pics of it atleast, only of this replica.

What I probably want to eventually do, is get a ring base, or something that looks alot like this one, to make it more like a 'Ring of Power'.
This replica is way too expensive for me, ranging between 200/300, which is too much for a costume piece (which might not even be accurate) for me.

To add to my confusion, I have found this other replica in a totally different color and design. It does have the offical Lord of the Rings logo on the ring case, so I'm wondering if this is the correct one? It says in the description that it's made by Schumann Design.

The green on above is a jewelers creation of their own based upon the book descriptions.

The one with the red stone is based upon the movie prop.
That is the ring of men and there are a couple of variations, some with gold edging

The Witchking also has his own ring in Twilight form, but very difficult to make out.

Very difficult to make out indeed! Thanks for the info, I will probably look for something or try to make something that looks like the red ring in that case.

Quick update for the pauldrons. I have started texturing with Liquitex modeling clay, same technique as for the helmet (apply and dab with aluminum foil).

I was kind of doubting the ridges I had applied, since I didn't use any precise measuring or templating for them they are kind of chaotic and uneven compared to some I have seen. But I thought I could get away with it, with the armor supposedly being thousands of years old Mordor forged iron. So I went ahead with the texturing. Lemme know what you guys think!

Hi RPF'ers, I assembled all the pieces of the pauldrons today. Before that I decide to glue in some shoulder filling which raises my shoulders a couple of centimeters, so it doesn't look weird with the helmet sitting higher on my head than normal.
I'm very happy with it. I used nylon webbing which I made holes into with a soldering iron for attaching the segmented part to the pauldron, the rest of the parts are attached with only chicago screws.
I'm planning to line the inside with cotton as well for more comfort and moisture absorption.

Short update, I redid the straps for the pauldrons due to poor moveablility.
I used a direct 1cm chicago screw for the 3 segmented parts before, and due to the foam being 2 pieces of 0.5mm it was too tight to really move well.
Took a queue from authentic medieval pauldrons ( but I know they didn't use nylon webbing, leather is expensive:'))
and now have straps running down all the way connecting all the pieces.
Added a strap for around the upper arms as well.
And using a strap running across my upper back for keeping the pauldrons on me.
I do have to do some more tightening of the back strap since they are too loose at the moment.
