The Iron Man Mark I armor has been on my build bucket list for years.

With Kansas City’s Planet Comicon right around the corner in March I decided to pull the trigger.

I started collecting reference pics and following build logs/vlogs in December (big thanks to asavage for his excellent work) and started the build in December.

First up, the torso. Started modeling in Lightburn, cut test pieces on craft paper with the laser cutter, then cut and assembled the EVA foam pieces.

More to come…

Got the cod and waist piece completed. Lots of revisions to the back and added the butt plate. I’ll add wiring to the back then reattach it to the main torso piece.

I am Loving this build!
Looks like good progress. Will you make the deadline?
Good luck and can’t wait to see more

Appreciate the encouragement. So far I’m feeling good about the timeline.

Was out last week for business travel, but was able to spend a good chunk of time this weekend.

Finished paint and weathering in the back and have a good chunk of the right thigh done.

Finished the knee joint/connector for the right leg. Two working joints and a magnetic connector to make it easy to put on. On to the left thigh….

Holy shhhhhh:notworthy: what a first-time build this is (you said?). Looking pretty pro to me !
I love that silver paint job ~ really cool touch.
I hope you make your deadline…and that you won’t be upset if they don’t let you use your flamethrower at the Comic Con ;) keep it up !

Thanks! Not my first time build, just a bucket list item. First real multi medium project combining laser cutting, 3D modeling and printing and a lot of hand cut EVA foam.

Left thigh is done!

What do you know, I think we may have the front of a helmet. I need to reinforce the shape with aluminum wire and I’m praying I have the sizing correct. But a good evening’s with of work.
