The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

Let me re-word that….

Take anyone who’s says authoritatively “well documented” without providing source references, with a huge grain of salt and don’t always believe anyone with a “trust me bro” attitude when proof isn’t provided.

If one is to use the wording “well documented”, that wording alone is subjective, and requires a measure providence and precedence.

Where …where are all the sources of all those who say “well documented” and nothing more to substantiate it? (A rhetorical question)

Moving forward…..

As for Google….one might want to realize that the generation of our kids and grandkids are living in Google. It’s part of their daily lives. Have you tried taking away their devices for any period of time? It’s a digital drug that they are addicted to. That’s the way they are now weened. Other than to give birth, the need for knowledge from their parents is becoming Obsolete. Google will raise your kids for you whether you like it or not.

Basically it is just a piece of aluminium sheet between the screws and the plastic piece. It puts pressure on it so that it takes a bit more effort to rotate the hood.

Doing the foil wasn't too hard. Just start at one side and press it down into place. It is much easier when you remove the lower compartment completely. Take off both of the sides of the tricorder and use a pin to push one side of the rod which acts as a hinge. This allows you to take it out to work on. Cut out a piece bigger than needed for the outer parts and fold it over the edge. You then just need to use a hobby knife to trim it using the edge of the plastic as a guide. The inner section I've already mentioned how to do.

Short of new straps,no one has successfully hacked or modded it?

See post above on the previous page--simple hood mod to give more resistance.

Comic-Con starting tomorrow….it’s going to be an exciting and long tiring 5 day’s ahead. The only thing I’m seeing so far in terms of Star Trek….is an event on Strange New Worlds (which by the way, ain’t that bad imo)…for now.

I don’t see any outside pop-ups for Wand being there…or even at the main vendors hall…so far….perhaps a no show for this year.

Did this indeed completely resolve the issue of needing to use a second hand to prevent hood roll? Or is there still maybe the hint of a sensation of movement, meaning one uses both hands just in case?

Ronldheld…Nice info about the Con …I’ll look into it….thx

Well, my Horween Chromexcel leather straps are here…..initial impression is ….I’m impressed!

I’m not ready to fiddle with them yet…the tric’s are still in my collections tubs.

I had also ordered 1” 8/9 oz. Strap for my long term WAH Tricorder 3D project. It fits like I need it to fit. Since no dimensions for WAH’s drawing were given that I’m aware of….as I see his drawing its a wide thick strap imo. The 3D designer made the strap feedthrough about 1 1/4” at about 1/8” thick. The 3D designer based his dimensions (artistic licensing) on the drawing as best as he was able to get inspiration for what it would be like if it was ever actually made.

For the most part I have no trouble with the buttons. There will always be a slight feeling of motion due to it being a hinge but generally I can press them without worrying.
It will tend to rotate when pressing the left and right buttons if you apply a downward force when pushing in. If you push it properly though it won't move. Before the mod it would move no matter how I pressed it.
