The Video Game Thread - anything and everything...

This is old news but it seems as though none of us posted about it. Definite buy for me.

I am as well. I got one of them for Christmas one year but wasn’t into fighting games at the time and I sold it. I regretted it ever since.

Saw this shirt on FB, so went to the website and bought it and came in yesterday. Pretty cool looking I thought.

I also have this shirt which I got at Megacon back in 2007. But, the designs are cracking and it's faded a boy now.
Need to get a new Final Fantasy shirt...probably from 6.

It's looking more and more like the rumors of the PS5 Pro coming out before the end of the year are increasingly likely, as one insider said, Sony wants as many Pro's on the market as possible for the release of GTAVI. Now we're starting to get a few spec leaks as to what might be upgraded in the new system and that all Playstation games releasing after July will have to support Pro upgrade features.

I made this super short video the other day. can't believe its already gotten 6100 views. Probably the fastest growing video I've ever made...to bad its like the easiest as well.

Another long lost original Resident Evil actor found. Rebecca Chambers actress joins original Chris Redfield, Barry Burton and Albert Wesker in cast interview. Only the original Jill Valentine still remains undiscovered.

Does anybody remember this classic and who among us still plays it?

I have JO:TR with JO:E add-on, as well as JO:SC mod.
I like AW2, but can’t get the mission editor to work T_T or rather export custom maps that show up in the game…
That’s like owning a Lamborghini but you didn’t get the keys:eek:

Has anyone played Sonic Frontiers and the dlc?
Just finished the dlc...and yikes that was brutally tough. I think so many complained that the base game was too easy, so Sega was like, "oh really? How about this???"
It's just unfairly hard now. Plus, there are a LOT of issues with controls and the camera, like with most 3D Sonic games. I liked that they let you play and Tails, Amy and Knuckles, but the controls for Knuckles alone was really frustrating.
While using Sonic and fighting one of the first bosses as a challenge this little guy gives you, the camera decided to lock onto that little character and never unlock. Finally had to reset it and start over. The open world idea for Sonic has potential, but it still needs a LOT of work for future games.

I wasnt much of a sonic fan so no tbh. I heard Frontiers was pretty good but 3D sonic has always had issues.

Regarding DLC and difficulty, I do think this is partly the fault of consumers. DLC is always harder than the base game since the devs assume that players who play the DLC have at least beaten the base game and want more and adjust the difficulty accordingly. DLC is always a step up, the point where the enemies can be incredibly difficult compared to the base game which becomes jarring to be honest. I remember playing Ghostwire and getting absolutely owned by this umbrella yokai and later found out it was added into the game later as "free DLC."

Yeah, complaints for more difficulty tend to be bad imo because difficulty is only good if the base game mechanics are sound imo. If the base mechanics have issues, higher difficulty just leads to more frustration (although arguably higher difficulty is needed to really explore those mechanics). I remember the hype for Kingdom Hearts 3 critical mode being "difficult" and honestly not being that good because the base game still had issues.

(post ended up being longer than expected, but it shows the frustration, mainly of that final boss in the dlc)
I've been a Sonic fan since the first game. Sonic did and played better as 2D games, mostly. They still messed up Sonic 4.
I liked Adventure the best for 3D games.
If you google the difficulty for Frontiers dlc, you can read where a lot of people talk about this. Some is pretty funny with how a lot of people were quite frustrated over it. More so than any other dlc I've ever played.
Another ting about the whole game and dlc, was there was little direction on a lot of stuff, like boss fights.
The worst was the dlc final boss. It was a cool design and all, but basically, this planet like creature, known as, The End, is coming down to destroy Sonics planet. You have these giant Titan machines you've fought through out the game as bosses. You have to be Super Sonic to even hurt them.
After you defeat this last Titan, then The End uses this pink cord like thing, basically an umbilical cord, and then controls it.
Heres where it gets tricky. Now as Super Sonic, you fly in, dodging all this stuff, and it automatically targets the head. The game always had auto target. Except for this boss, after you do any type of damage, it instantly heals. No matter what you do, it heals.

So, off to google I ran....and found out, every single person had to do the same.
Behind its head is where that pink cord connects, on its neck. The game never even tells you, with its auto lock on, that you can change targets. I found SO many topics of people asking how. On PlayStation its R1. Like, really???
But, its so wacky, it might change targets, it might not, it might switch back to the head target on its own. Very frustrating.
So after only a little damage, that pink cord breaks off. Great, now you can actually damage the head without health coming back. I get it down to 0 health...and....nothing. Not sure what to do. Next thing I know, it goes to a little cinema of The End reconnecting the pink cord....and its life starts filling again. It takes maybe 15 seconds before its life is back to 100% fill. I break the cord off, attack the head and bring it to 0 heath. Cord reconnects.... this happens like 20 times in a row. I absolutely could not figure out what to do.
Everyone on line says to use a cyloop with Sonic. I'm not sure what that was, but was thinking it was this attack where he spins around. That ended up not working.
I'm watching video after video, and FINALLY found out, after breaking off this pink cord and draining its life and getting the combo meter maxed, you have to hold triangle. There is also another target with no life on the back of its neck, past the part where the cord connects. Even with no life, once the head it at 0 life, you then combo that and hit triangle. (people kept saying you had to attack the sword. I'm like, what sword???)
So now, with both targets having hit triangle on, the cyloop attack, now the sword comes out. Attack that, bring up the meter, and prepare to hit triangle....and oh man....we took to long, the pink cord just reconnected and now we have to start all over.
I was stuck on this fight for like 2 hours until I found out what to do. Thanks Sega for not explaining ANYTHING AT ALL.

I forgot, I got a little video of the first boss where the camera got stuck on the one guy, and nothing would change it.

Just getting all the glitches now.
Decided to break out the N64. At almost 28 year old, had to play around with it, but got it working.

But before I could play, this happened first, but restarting fixed it.

That sounds like bad game design to be honest. Based mainly from my experience with Zelda games but Zelda likes to have these puzzle bosses during the N64/Gamecube era where bosses required using the item you obtained in the dungeon in some way to get the boss vulnerable. I think one thing Zelda does well in this regard is that it "teaches" the player how to use the item and the method of getting the boss to expose its weakpoint uses a method similar to how that item is used. Also helps that Zelda has a history of having "puzzle" bosses which means the player is prepared with that mindset while Sonic traditionally is a bit more straight-forward (please correct me if Im wrong in that regard. Not saying sonic bosses are easy but they require more knowing where Robotnik's mech's hurt boxes and attacks are and timing your jumps and hits to avoid attacks and damage robotnik).

Also, putting the target behind the boss is a dick move, not going to lie. Im assuming the boss turns towards you while fighting which means getting behind them is already difficult. Were there enemies that required you to hit them from behind? Not having to change targets until now also seems like poor game design to suddenly introduce a mechanic you havent used until then.
