The Ultimate Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi Real Vintage Parts Lightsaber Group

I asked a direct question to both people and have not received direct answers and was specifically asked to ask a direct question again even after asking my direct question. It’s perfectly fine to bring it here to ask questions about a listing that seems off.

I’m not worried about being scammed out of money for someone not having the item as I know that group is vetted.

I am worried about the condition of a 3500 euro item not working for what it’s intended for and find non-answers and non-responses suspect.

I'm sure you'll end up getting an answer eventually, it is indeed a legitimate question.
I was just responding to the fact you mentioned it was suspect, when I knew one of the sellers was one of the most reputable member on this forum.

Also, that follow-up to why it was double posted does not show up in the feed unless you dig. Thank you Facebook algorithm for making a mess of posts and I unfortunately missed it.

Yeah I was going to say the same and point out the reply regarding the inability to post on the Facebook page.
With that said I agree with others.
However it appears there could be good reason as to not receiving your response.
You are right to question it, but in a small community where most people tend to know one another, it can be damaging to throw thoughts around.
It is likely very hard to get a true idea unless you have the item in hand, and of course photos can make items look worse than they are.
All I can again speak from is personal experience and say that I was offered that booster before it came on the Facebook page, it was offered to me here.
However, I thought the same and wondered if the damage would stop the tap wheel going on and decided against it.

I guess it’s down to the individual, if the price is good then it may be worth taking the risk and possibly recognizing that it may need machining to fit, if on the other hand that isn’t for you, then you have the right answer for you.

Why did you turn it down? If you don’t mind me asking?
Because I seek perfection, or close to it.
If I had a good sum to spend on that which I don’t at the moment having just bought my female bp, I would want a straight example.
I noticed the warping like you did and came to the conclusion that it wasn’t for me.
Even if I machined that, it would still in my eyes not be good enough for me.
I have real OCD issues lol.
For someone else it may be perfect and just what they are looking for.
It’s just not for me.
I honestly would love to find out who bought it (when it sells) and if they had a hell of a time with it and how they found it fit etc ?

Much appreciated. I would probably buy it because mine is all sorts of wonky so I don’t care in particular as long as it works as intended. Which is obviously my only concern

I will add to this, if you are looking for a display item then it does have a heck of a patina and possible story to tell, it would look great on display

Pretty nasty plane crash I should imagine, that’s a lot of weight and force to have done that.
The thing that would worry me as well is if the finned part is in any way buckled too.

Could even be extreme heat from a fire ?

So maybe crash alone, crash and fire damage ? Either way not good
Didn’t even think of a place crash, wicked good thinking

I would wait on an answer to your question first. It’s a reasonable amount of money to not have it fit without some kind of intervention.

As for the pinched booster it could probably be hammered or machined back into place easily enough, but it wouldn't look like nothing ever happened, I'd either skip it or get it and modify the hand wheel to fit

I’m contemplating getting it. It’s the last bit I need. But I still have to pull funds together regardless so it isn’t happening soon-ish

Last bit I need too, but I think I’m going to leave it for the moment, enjoy the saber as is and recover rofl

P.S. I was just kidding ... of course I will create a Mechanismo Blueprint with pleasure, once you provide me with the appropriate pictures of your finished real parts lightsaber ;)

I don't think I've ever posted my build here. Been tackling it for about four years now.

I stepped away from the build for awhile now and was kind of in the head space to to be okay with what I compiled for my real parts build. Basically, no intentions of getting the Booster and Balance Pipe and at the time, the proper Marconi's hadn't even been made public. In fact it was kind of a long absence from the forum in general, as I didn't have many projects on the table.

I recently started checking in as new projects came up and decided to start the hunt again. Good times lol!

Well, because of the way things have gone, the Balance Pipe was attainable and now the Booster was selling for crazy numbers lol.

So, I was able to get the Balance Pipe as well as some Anitas and vintage washers.

Here are the parts. That Booster is still out of reach for the time being but being down one part makes this whole endeavor feel much more achievable.

A big thanks to various members over the last couple of years who've sold various bits to me along the way. May as well document their lineage here for posterity. Also a thanks to Scottjua for repairing my grenade ring. And a new handwheel is on the way because of destroying the one I got from cdyoung just trying to adjust that stupid d-ring.

Also, mine bends a bit to the left thanks to the wonky neck on the grenade lol.

Tap - cdyoung/DaveP
D-Ring - vintage find
Booster - lol someday hopefully
Graflex Clamp - in the wild find
Bubble Strip - in the wild find
Anitas - Diego86
Washers - scottjua
Grenade - schrodinger555
Female Balance Pipe - cwoodreplicas

I do love seeing all these builds.
All unique and being looked after.
I get so much pleasure from looking at mine, I can only imagine that you all get the same feelings x
