The Ultimate Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi Real Vintage Parts Lightsaber Group

Well I bought myself a new Calculator so maybe I should fit my bubble strip now I have one for display and one for use.
I will post some pics when it arrives

It’s got to be bad to be staring this hard at the arse end of something artificial right ?
I just find this so compelling.

Guys sensible and quick question, with the arrival of my calculator and bubble strip on the horizon, what are your thoughts, those of you that have fitted the bubble strips, on the possibility of yellowing ?
The pics show a repro bubble strip, is it possible for the original part to yellow as well ?
It makes me reluctant to fit it, if it’s only going to degrade over time ?
Thoughts, thank you.

They don't yellow the same way, there's many original sabers where the bubbles are still clear. This one saw a lot of distress for many years and looks dirty but the bubbles still look fairly clear to me

Yeah I think I’m going to have to very seriously consider if I fit the bubble strip or not, as these parts get rarer and rarer, a massive part of me is leaning more towards preservation. I don’t want to damage a piece be it in the short or the long term.

DarthBra, let me make your serious consideration not to add a real vintage bubblestrip to your all real parts Obi-Wan build a little more complex . . . (insert Emperor Palpatine voice here) I'm afraid I won't be able to consider your once completed lightsaber to be added to the all new Picture Index along with a Mechanismo Blueprint, when you do not put a vintage Exactra bubblestrip on your precious lightsaber ;)

Yup and this would be something I would have to live with.
I decided to drill my tap wheel because its condition is such that it didn’t worry me, although I will be looking for better, of which I will not fit.
It will sit in my display.
Just as I would love the split pins to go into the clamp and the screw that holds the grenade to the clamp but there is no way in hell I am drilling my grenade.
I could glue a screw head on this much is true and maybe do things that ‘look’ the part.
There are some people here who have not drilled their D rings.
It’s the same reason I would never glue my T track on my Graflex or drill it for the D ring or the rivets, it’s also why Wanna Wanga sells rivets that ‘look’ the part.

It is going to have to be something I deeply consider, I look at the saber and love the fact it’s all real parts, I don’t know if I could live without the real bubble strip on it and I don’t know if I could destroy another calculator ? I guess only time will tell on what I decide.

I still need the booster, so for now I think I’m happy, I will re-evaluate when the time comes.

‘I feel the conflict within you, fit your bubble strip and take your place by my side,’

Completely agree, that’s UK mud,(clay) this saber was pulled out of the ground. I even think Andy mentions it was a rainy day when he and his father were talking the grounds and he saw the shiny handle sticking out of “the mud”

Have to go back and check my notes..

Oh wow what’s the story with that saber ? How on earth did it end up in the erm er … well earth ?

Just curious what the pro's opinions are on the pinched Booster shown here and if it will be an issue fitting in a hand wheel:

I did reply to you on Facebook and of course I don’t want to tread on any toes with my comment and my thoughts are my own etc etc.
However, with that said, all I can speak of is my own experience and therefore my own grenade and tap fitment, so with that said, I personally would see that as an issue.
It’s such a tight fit, that would defo not fit my tap or I should imagine any other

Wonder how it ended up like that…
Pretty nasty plane crash I should imagine, that’s a lot of weight and force to have done that.
The thing that would worry me as well is if the finned part is in any way buckled too.

Could even be extreme heat from a fire ?

So maybe crash alone, crash and fire damage ? Either way not good

Input is always appreciated. The whole thing seems suspect with two different people posting it and an almost comical lack of reposnse to an inquiry for an item being sold for a lot of money. Like, ******* just respond person selling expensive item. *****.

Please be careful with insinuating things like this, I guess you just didn't get an answer, but I'm sure if you asked directly, you would get an explanation, one of the sellers is one of the person on this forum with the best reputation and most old school collectors we have here, I'm sure we are dozens here that could swear this person is never going to scam anyone! I was surprised by those double photos too, but I'm sure there is an explanation behind it.
