The Ultimate Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi Real Vintage Parts Lightsaber Group

One more question. Is there a general consensus of which Armitage Shanks sink knob was on the Tunisia Obi-Wan lightsaber prop? The Hot or the Cold knob?

I wouldn't see why they would leave it on really. From a prop perspective, it's too designed and identifiable. Not sure how else to word it.
I tend to think the same about the graflex clamp. There's no proof that the word was covered in tape and the flashes had still been in use commonly only 15 or so years prior even though they were from the 40s.
I took my cap off just to see if it few on me and it just looks unfinished, even at an angle.

It may look unfinished, and that's why probably most people prefer to have a cap on their builds (as can be seen in the majority of posts here).
But if you compare your picture to these, you'll see that it is a match and there was no cap on the real prop.

Submitting an idea about the brass screw:
(Using my RP MK1 FX Replica)

Not a torx, but a flat headed brass screw that has (as a soft metal) been *stripped*?

(Or perhaps attempted to be drilled out after the fact?)

I almost see a stripped phillips in that comparison photo. about 12/6 3/9 o clock but tipped to the right

Roger: I could see it but it’s hard to meet spec size for Phillips through vendors like McMaster-Carr if the parameters are really tight.

Though now that I think about it, glasses hinge machine screws are often about this size using phillips

What suggests it is brass and not steel for example?

It looks like a gray/silver dot on that spot there, while the windvane has a hint of brassy / yellowish tint :

And a practical question for the build - do you drill and tap the grenade for the screw ?

I've tried to overlay the end of the grenade when I was considering this for my build but it looked that it barely catches the edge so I eventually gave up on the idea.

The pilot is a bit smaller than 1/16”, so in my case it was off the edge a bit. Sunk enough to grab but the pilot broke… so I tapped what I could and glued all of the two or so threads I could
My (RP-FX) replica MK1 won’t ever be disassembled at this point but I’m glad I like how it’s coming out.

Regarding color, I believe I’ve seen it discussed elsewhere (maybe even earlier in this thread) that Master Replicas utilized a brass screw because they had photo reference at the Archives to inform that? Not sure if that was ever validated.

Considering the weatherable nature of brass it could have easily turned dark with handling patina

Wait ... I think I've seen this post somewhere in the forum long time ago and the guy replied that they just thought it looks cool or something

Edit: I think this was the post I'm referring to, somewhere earlier in this thread:

I don't think MR, even if they claimed they did, had any reference photos that we have not seen. I don't think they exist. I think the brass screw is just a theory as no definitive photos to prove it, have been known to exist.
