The Ultimate Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi Real Vintage Parts Lightsaber Group

Shinobi cost & availablity is why I bough a Roman's & I am very impressed by how good a repro it is. I've read other threads here where folk swap out bits for 'real' parts as they become available. As you have some maybe that hybrid solution would suite you.

Yes, that's essentially what I've done for the last 10 years or so. I have all the main pieces other than the MK grenade so I've just been using various replicas over the years. I'm just one of those people who feels like the saber should either be all real parts or all replica (if that makes sense). I've done the hybrid thing for a while now lol.

The Mechanismo pic clearly shows a screw 180° from that point on the clamp. There are higher resolution versions of the reference pictures, but not publicly available. Master Replicas had access to those pictures in color I’ve been told. That is why their replica had brass screws, and it was taken as a fact at the time It was produced. I’m always up for a debate about the details, it sometimes shakes loose better reference pics, or cropped sections at least.

There is also another wire (cotter pin) 180° from the easily seen one in the double hole on the clamp, you can just see it at the bottom of the Mechanismo pic.

In light of what I found out about brass screws and MR I thought I’d share what I was told. Hopefully this clears up things up just a little as far as brass screws go. It’s true better photos could surface one day, but for now I’m thinking brass slotted screws are probably not it.

Well that clears up the MR connection. I’ve been using scuffed, nickel plated, slotted screws on my replica.

Okay maybe I'm getting a little over obsessed with this, but I enjoy trying to figure this out and one day make my build as accurate as can be. It is possible that other photos of the OBW lightsaber exsist somewhere. It's also possible that we have everything that will ever become available.
I would love to figure out the screws on the clamp with this version of the saber. With the photos that I've seen that are available this is what I've concluded. I'm totally open to anyone who wants to tell me otherwise or share their insight.
First picture that I previously showed looks to be Philips head or Torx, though it looks more like Torx to me I agree it's more probable that it's a Philips flat head screw. The images appearance could be missleading.

This above image is the best I can find that shows a screw underneath the clamp. Uncertain what kind. Is it possiible that one screw could be a Philips head on one be a slotted screw? The reason I present this question is in my second image of the saber used during the film. This image to my eyes almost looks like flat head slotted screw to me.

I'd love to hear anyone elses thoughts or perhaps more clear eveidance to support or deny my theorys. Anyone tried callling Lucas film or Letterman Digital Arts or Disney? Lol

So are you going to build a chronicles version?

That screw next to the control box ... the first time I noticed it I thought it is Torx, but then I loaded it in some photo editor and played with the curves. Then it was looking more like a Philips with perhaps some damage or residue that partially obscures the shape. Also most Torx screw seem to have a lot of space between the star shape and the edge of the head, while for Philips it is very common to be just like on the picture. None of this is definitive proof of course, but If I ever get all the other parts and just need to add the screw - I'll personally go with a Philips

That last circle is at the wrong end of the clamp, near the pommel

I agree the Mechanismo shot looks like a phillips head, I can see the upper left corner of the socket

Hello guys, Well, Better late than never as they say, “The journey has begun” Well it did about 3 weeks ago but i never thought i would actually get this far let alone this quick but it just kind of happened, and feeling a sense of joy and excitement and been itching to get on here so here i am, First of all i’d like to say after reading through this whole thread i have seen some absolutely beautiful parts and builds you all have, This is how far i have gotten myself into this, Pretty much only the 2 hardest parts left to get obviously and to be honest i don't fancy my chances of finding those anytime soon, It's pretty much a pipe dream at the moment thinking about those, But will just have to see what happens i guess, I know my Hales no.3 isn't the prettiest of the bunch but i love the patina on it it’s perfect for me, It has had a bit of a restoration as when i got it it was pretty much a rusty relic and had the common broken ring, So i spruced that up a bit and repaired it to make it somewhat more presentable, But anyway just wanted to say hi and check myself in with you guys MTFBWY

Amazing looking grenade! I love it, beautiful collect of parts and...

Wicked name!!

Hey guys, Me again, I have just acquired this pair of AS hand wheels, But im just curious if anyone has any knowledge as the top cap is a variant, Under inspection with my “Usual” version they are identical in every way and come apart exactly the same, Apart from the cap being made of metal and the “Armitage Shanks” logo being the only difference, Slightly earlier or later version perhaps? Comparison with my Hot “usual” version is on the right next to the variant Hot, Any knowledge would be very helpful, Thanks guys.
