I took this photo the day I originally got my all real parts Obi-Wan together. After the photos, I took it apart, stripped the grenade, & then blued it. So this was the original finish of my grenade.

Started off with 4 ROTJ Luke fonts, two lime-green and two true green blade colors (each pair has a static and flicker mode).

Can't wait to take this bad boy out tomorrow night. :p

I wanted to start a general thin-neck saber appreciation thread since I think the design is so cool! The idea is that folks can post pictures and discuss their own replicas, other sabersmith's creations, the screen used sabers, and other non-canon designs. Anything goes as long as it's thin-neck oriented.

To start, here are some pics of my personal collection.

From left to right we have:
Roman's Obi-Wan hero in the Tattooine configuration (upside down pommel cubes, both transistors have washers, the brass above the windvane is tarnished and not shiny)
Starkiller unibody V2 painted up as an ANH-era Obi-Wan stunt. Roman's empire replica clamp with Wannawanga bubbles and lever.
Starkiller 3 piece V2 with Roman clamp and d ring. I got the card on a whim from some ebay seller that I can't remember.
Spirit of OB1 shared stunt. The clamp is a logoless replica from TCSS, but the logo is covered with tape so it doesn't matter.
Nicksdad ROTJ hero. The neck is painted dirty brass (which I strongly feel is more accurate) as opposed to copper.

On top is a Roman's Empire Obi ROTS saber. The TPM Obi (Korbanth) and Qui-Gon (one replicas) get honorable mentions because they have elements of the thin-neck style.

One non-canon design that I absolutely love is the Big Boy by Turkish company Saberkraft. It's a really cool, stylized take on the thin-neck motif

I don't own one, but I saw a vid by Shameem of one of his electronics installs and I thought it was just so neat.

I'm also intrigued by the upcoming Korbanth LS6 design with the Crystal chamber reveal.

The saber has elements of the hero, V2, and shared stunt. I think it could be a cool basis for an idealized hybrid saber. For some reason, even though it's not very accurate to any one particular version, I really want to get one!

Love this thread!

I'll post pics of my thin necks as I get a chance to take some over the next few days but... I do have handy photos of my ANH Obi (Roman) and my TLJ Luke (Lukyanov Creepy Uncle Gen2).

my Solo's Hold V2 is not yet stenciled/painted yet so that one is in the raw.

Also a SF exalted hilt. (Rewired).

Made a start but as i'm a child I couldnt wait and had to paint a bit to see what looks like. Its a slow tease of a reveal.
Hopefully tomorrow i'll finish the business end and then make the removable pommel to house the electronics. Also started on my own version of a neo pixel blade with some very bright led's ive found.

Just the switch box and put in the electronics in and my skills will be complete. Ive added a small aluminium sleeve to the blade as there isnt alot of blade housed in the saber hilt. Its attatched to the blade and comes out with it so I can add a blade plug that matches the movie version when not in battle.

Question about your 'custom' Neopixel blade?

What custom LEDS are you using?

The "Neopixel" led are really WS2812(B?).. and have an integrated/on-board chip.. and requires a microcontroller to run. :)

Just wanna make sure you dont waste any more or time. :)

Side note:
Is that a 1in blade?

It is a 1" blade yes, its a polycarbonate 2.5mm walled tube and ive sanded to outside and added a foam tube for the led's to slide into to defuse it all. As for the neo pixel led's its a cheat option. It took a while but its 98 5mm 7000mcd leds soldered together into a long line. It give a super bright blade without the ring tailed lima look.
