Last Black Friday Korbanth had a sale when you buy three sabers and I "convinced" two other friends to get one also and picked up the V2 kit that was available at the time. I realize it's not as accurate as other versions out there, but this was too good of a deal to pass up.
This is how it came out of the box, though I added solder to the clamp card at this point.
I tried the dishwasher method to at the grey tone, in particular on the booster, but I didn't notice much change. 30s in a Clorox bath worked much better. I have read about Halliwax's chemical method, but wasn't sure I wanted to work with those caustic chemicals and deal with disposal.
I picked up a set of Trooper's Trents stencils, they didn't quite fit. I think they were intended for a different Korbanth release. But, given I wasn't going for 100% accuracy, just good enough to make my happy, I didn't mind too much.
The end result was not bad for a first try. I used the Leather and Flat Brown combination recommended by Halliwax for the neck.
After I took the photos I realized I completely forgot the gaffer's tape. This is probably not the right type, but it could be easily replaced once I find some.
Overall I'm very happy with the result. I need more practice with my airbrush and I'll add the line to top of the the emitter. I was too chicken to attempt the damage to the emitter or the pommel. Eventually want to go back and add some rust to the clamp and general cleanup.
This was a fun project, I might try to pick up another more accurate saber one day and try to go deep on the details. Thanks to everyone who posted to the *long* V2 thread, that took while to read, Halliwax for his videos and Trooper Trent for the stencils.
