Re: The Smugglers Room - Entertainment Room

Looking great as always! This room is going to be awesome. :)

Thank you sir!

Are you using tape to remove the paint?

Actually it is a Rubber Cement technique that I picked up from the boys over at the Dented Helmet.

1. Spray primer down
2. Spray what ever color you want to reveal. (in my case, Chrome)
3. then apply rubber cement to that area.
4. Finally, spray the actual color you want the object to be. (In my case, Dark Grey)
5. Then once the outer layer is dried, you simply rub off the areas where there is rubber cement, and it will protect the under layer (chrome) and reveal it.

It works great for battle damage and such, as you can peel the rubber cement off with different strokes to reveal as much or as little as you want.

Re: The Smugglers Room - Entertainment Room

I know people who use toothpaste for the same effect. Just wipe it off when done. I have yet to try it though. :)

You an also use mustard. My biggest issue is I always forget where I laid it down after I paint on the final color :(

okay, now we are just getting carried away:behave

jk, I seems like you could use nearly anything to get the job done, but finding it is a bit tough.

Re: The Smugglers Room - Entertainment Room

Thanks, its getting there. I have a few adjustments to make on this piece tonight.

Re: The Smugglers Room - Entertainment Room

Isn't it much more setbuilding than propmaking? :D

Realy impressive

Thank you. I sort of think of it as a combination of the two. There are elements of the room that are prop items, and many aspects that are a "set design"
