Limited Run THE MUMMY - Hamunaptra Key Fully Functional 2.0 - OLD

Any word on another run yet?

I've been working 40 hours a week for some time now. So, is it good news or BAD news that I might be working less hours soon?

If my hours get cut, then I'll have more time, and also need the boost in income by doing a run. ;)

Since this is in the correct section, I will also ask,

Would there be interest in buying the files and printing this yourselves?

I am finding it hard to find time to do this project.

Personally I would be fine with that

Okay, so possibly both options. Offer printed and assembled as option one, and a cheaper option two, to buy the files, and I send the springs to complete the kit.

That could cut my workload a bit for the ones that wanted to print themselves. Since not everybody has a printer, or wants to deal with failed prints, I'll still offer printed/assembled as an option.

I've tried two other "spring loaded" versions, and they've failed miserably, they look decent, but the mechanisms are just so fragile they can't function more than once or twice before falling apart or the springs becoming too weak to function.

I'll gladly pay for one of your versions.

Any chance of getting it before the middle of May?

When I made the 2.0 key, I tried two different types of springs. I have these springs in my room somewhere. I believe one type is better than the other because of the material it is made of. My design was innovative at the time, and people that have keys (that you've tried) probably duplicated my design at least in part. My design was available from Shapeways, and you could even 3D rotate my design on their website, so copies were bound to pop up.

My design of the key was publicly available, but I never revealed exactly which springs I used. ;)

I'll have to check if the type of springs that I found worked best, are still available.

Is your print still available on Shapeways. I'm only finding the locking pin.

Some people were confused by it being on Shapeways. I wrote that the springs were needed to complete it and to contact me after purchasing the item. And they generally did not. I had to track down each buyer and contact them myself. I didn't like the confusion and stopped offering it through Shapeways. I am debating on printing it on my FDM in metal colored PLA, or on my resin printer and painting it metal colored. The resin printer would do a nicer job, but since this has moving parts, I don't think painted is really going to work without wearing through from use. If I use my FDM printer, it is solid metal colored plastic all the way through, but takes 3 or 4 times as long to print.

Since it's been brought up, anyone have any input?

Correct me if I'm wrong but won't the FDM produce a sturdier item as well? With it moving that'd probably be the better option all together, even if the cost will be higher due to the increased print time.

I'd be okay with that.

Any possibility for delivery by May 15th?

Do you live in the USA?

Okay, I'll try to print a copy by April's end. Best laid plans, and all that...
