The Mandalorian (TV series)

One thing that bothers me: how did the slave 1 connect to the lambda class "imperial" shuttle in the last episode??

Magnetic force shield between hatches. They don’t need a physical connection but they need to be close. Also a very brief vacuum exposure won’t kill you. I expect Mandalorian armor to have some minor pressure suit capability for short ship to ship transfers, like Stormtrooper armor. Cara Dune may have thrown on a mask temporarily they don’t show.

Ultimately it’s fantasy and NOT sci-fi so don’t get bogged down in the details.

Check out the incredible cross section books to see where the air locks are.

Yep. There's a retractable airlock and hatch on the back/bottom of Slave I. It's an after-the-fact interpretation of one of the greeblies on the model, but one that works just fine. The bigger question is where on the Imperial shuttle does it attach. The only access I know is lower-front, under the cockpit.

It's generally just safe to assume that most ships have 1-2 alternate (but potentially very cramped) access points. Lambdas have been used as assault/boarding craft (and also have to be able to interface with non docking bay equiped ships), so they have to have something like that, other than the "jaw" ramp. Likely just a circular hatch under the deck plates of the main rear compartment; the same way the Razorcrest manifested a lower docking hatch during the prison break episode.

Worst thing about this series: you have to watch it quickly because fans of this show can't resist spoiling it for everyone else.

Keeping it in the thread is fine. I assume this is for people who have seen it and this is easy enough for me to avoid until I've seen it...but elsewhere, people just either can't help themselves or don't understand that "Ahsoka appears! I won't tell you what lightsabers she's using though" is not exactly hiding the spoiler.

Even in RPF. Instead of watching this show all at once, we decided to space it out over at least a week or two, since we knew there would be a long wait for S3...and I had major plot points spoiled here by idiots who put spoilers in the title. (My favorite is a thread currently STILL in the Star Wars section that actually does warn readers that it contains spoilers, even though the biggest spoiler is in the thread title).

The Luke spoilers were the worst. That might have been a really nice moment if I hadn't seen it coming, but even when people think they are not spoiling they will say things like "I won't spoil by saying who, but there's a big surprise guest star Jedi that appears in the last episode of a show that takes place right after RoTJ"

I was wondering that too and I figured that Slave I is probably equipped with many ways to board other ships. In the books they said ships usually have several ways, a regular hard lock, a soft lock which is basically an expandable plastic like tube, or you lock on and cut through.

I loved seeing Filoni and Favreau talking about messing with fans with the Boba Fett spur sounds at the end of that one episode. They’re really kids in a candy store. Also Favreau wanting to use “Maklunky” in a much earlier episode and Filoni having to talk him out of it lol

Yep... They recognized the ridiculousness of 'Maklunky' (even Filoni, who is probably the closest thing to a worshipper of George), & yet they didn't rail against the thought of it, swear allegiance to a grainy '76 print of the first film (STAR WARS mind you... Not any 'A New Hope' revisionist bullcrap), or use the platform they're given to show how much better they are than those that didn't have a problem with it. They LOVE Star Wars, recognize that there are varied levels of fandom, & passionately try to make something that everyone can find merit in, even if that means touching on something that could be divisive. They use all aspects of the history to tell their story.

Filoni calling exactly how the discussions about the scene on Tattooine were going to go made me laugh. They're so far ahead of the game it isn't funny.

It's clear they're concerned with story and their passion and respect for the material is evident, but it doesn't make them infallible or the "saviours" of the franchise either. Thankfully I haven't seen too much of that kind of talk here but on social media and elsewhere that kind of thinking gets a bit tired and frankly quite annoying.

I like to think they've mostly done right by the fans but it's important to be balanced with our perspective on their creation. Call out what's good and critique what isn't. It's the only way the content has the chance to remain relevant to its audience and that goes for any content. Not just Star Wars. Which is why it's important to call out the positivity patrol and let them know their attempts to silence fans does nothing but hurt the brand in the long run. Likewise it's important for those of us who look at these things with a critical eye to happily give credit where it's due.

I rewatched Luke's arrival and something struck me.

What happened to the Darktrooper that Luke pushed off a ledge? It would have been able to fly back up.
Did it get back up in time to confront Luke again ... or was it still out there after Luke had retrieved Grogu?
Did the Mandalorians on the ship have to deal with it?

I noticed that myself & was wondering if that could be Gideon's way of escape at some point down the line.

Oh boy...

If this was discussed, I missed it.

Little bummed that when Fett shows up in his old armor the weathering was rather elementary.

We all know to weather a Fett helmet and armor is a complicated process to match Empire and ROTJ. The excellent OT weathering was yet another thing that makes him cool.

It looks like the prop guys used silver and added more silver to reflect the armor has aged and time has passed. I’m ok with making the armor look more aged, but it was poorly done. Looked like they splattered silver paint on it and called it a day.

The show gets so many things right regarding props, I’m shocked for an iconic character, this wasn’t done better.
