The Mandalorian (TV series)

As slavish as this series has been to fanboy minutiae, I just find it odd that they would specifically cite "HK-87," clearly aware of the chronology of the model numbers, and do absolutely nothing with the reference.
Well, I know everyone automatically assume the HK-87s were meant to be an Easter Egg reference to HK-47, but we also had Michael Biehn in this episode, who as Kyle Reese fought against Hunter Killer Drones, which he does call "HKs" to Sarah Connor. So, the name could be a double reference, both to KotOR and Terminator.

Right, I thought that, too. But even if it was a double-homage, that still doesn't explain why the droids didn't even bear a passing resemblance to HK-47 - again, a reference that they were clearly teeing up.

I do have to confess that I giggle a little bit at the “myopic smallness” of the Star Wars galaxy.

Instead of a galaxy populated with ...aliens from a thousand worlds...” it feels more like the small town of Mayberry from The Andy Griffith Show, or Springfield from The Simpsons.

There are less than 60 key characters in the entire galaxy whose ability to “bump into each other” (even across different films and different series) flies in the face of statistical probability.

And for the love of God enough with crappy small run down little areas. They all look the same. Some is good. All is bad.

Yeah, yeah Outer Rim, bla.

Lets see some huge world building.

Like Firefly. Some was way out. Some was in. Some places crap, some nice.

I love it but I feel like most episodes are set in the same crappy village with the same plot.

Like anti Andy Griffith.

Aunt Bee be packing and she is pissed.

Let's expand the story. Make it huge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And if you want to keep focus on Mando you better do something with the character soon.

Grogu as well. He is just starting to get old and I love this little guy. Do to his age, whatever they have written themselves into a corner. Those cute little noises are going to get old real quick.

I like the Springfield/Simpson’s example!

Agree wholeheartedly. "Less is more" with such things.

Although it probably makes the most sense that Luke or Leia will be the Jedi that "hears" Gorgu's call on Tython, I really hope that's not the way Favreau & Co. decide to go.

Well, you know how that'll go....they'll go to Tython this week, he'll make the call and maybe he heard something or maybe he didn't. Maybe it'll be a 'find me on <insert planet here>'....that meet up will be the last 3 seconds of S2.

As we've seen in this universe (at least in the old EU, which the new canon clearly feels free to cherry-pick at its leisure), some droids retain a similarity of form over thousands of years, like astromechs.

Also, the CIS produced HK-77s, which bore some resemblance to HK-47. Again, it's an old EU source (SW Galaxies, and some pre-Disney books), but if adopted, the aesthetic survived up to and through the Battle of Yavin.

Meh...Put a 57 vette next to an 87 vette and no one without prior knowledge thinks 'natural evolution of the same design'.

That said, your fanbase knows of HK47/51/55 - making it look similar would be a good way to go. Getting the same voice actor would have been great!

Yeah, there does seem to be a lot of planet-hopping, doesn't there? Feels like an escort/delivery quest chain in an MMO.

Quite so. Like your Corvette aficionados, the "HK-87" call-out was specifically for nerds who would recognize what HK-47 looked like. Just like putting the Seventh Fleet's insignia on the side of the droids' heads was a call-out specifically for nerds who would know that was Thrawn's fleet.

And getting Kristoffer Tabori to voice those droids would have been great, but I am not sure I'd want him squandered on just a small handful of scenes. Maybe keep that in the hip pocket for a story arc where HK-47 is reborn (he is still "alive" in the SWG continuity) as a Black Hat that plays cat-and-mouse with Djarin over an entire season.

Mathematical probabilities are no match for mainstream audiences' desire to see major characters bump into each other. We hardcore nerds will watch this series regardless, but Disney+ needs more than just us hardcore nerds watching.

But yeah, I would have been totally fine if they had taken a "Firefly" approach whereby Djarin and Grogu never bumped into anybody "famous" in their remote neck of the galaxy.

Yoda-"It is the future you see. Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future."

I want to see Luke put right. Yes Luke. I want Luke in this. To be restored to what he should be, will be, must be.

I want him to be the Jedi that finds Grogu (Man that name bites).

Tell Mark Hamill to get in shape and de-age him or get Sebastian Stan. This is Luke's time when he is rebuilding the Jedi and is at his most badass up to this point. A leader of the Galaxy, not some jerk on an island.

Luke finds them. I have said this before but I am doing it again.

He wakes from a vision, gets a vision during training, whatever. A horrible future where he is worthless, Han is worthless and Darth Vader has been replaced by the world's biggest cry baby bitch!!!!!!!!!!!

Always in motion is the future. Difficult to see. He remembers Yoda's words and vows to make sure that future never happens.

Done. Vomit inducing sequels gone.

Re-casting should be considered as Harrison Ford looks way old, Carrie Fisher is gone and Mark Hamill does not seem interested after Disney. Then we could have true sequels.

In my Star Wars world Only The Mandalorian exists.
Everything else was bad dreams, visions, mind tricks by the dark side. Oh yeah and people who die stay dead!!!!!!!! Rogue one can stay.

TV series: (Boba Fett pops up in all series and movies as one of the big baddies of the galaxy.)

The Mandalorian.

The Republic's Angels-Ashoka, Bo, Gina kickin bootea

Obi and Vader the Missing Years. I want to see a series that fills in the ROTS to ANH gap explaining what Yoda and Obi did to try to fix the mess they made and lots of Vader. How he becomes the Vader we love and he and Obi need to meet up lots of time. Epic Obi Vader fight in their prime. I want to know Yoda and Obi Wan tried to fix this before they finally had to face reality and wait.

Movies:

New Sequels that don't suck.

I also do love that Beskar can stop a lightsaber. I see some cool Beskar swords in the future!

Hate to break it to you, but Luke hasn't even started training anyone. He won't for another 14 years.

The **** is even going on here anymore…

I can not speak for anyone but myself and what I think is going on. We are discussing The Mandalorian. It's a TV series on Disney Plus which is a Streaming Service where you view content such as TV shows and Movies.

We also talk about Star Wars in general related to The Mandalorian TV series which is a spin off of Star Wars.

Star Wars is three awesome movies that were released in the late 70s and early 80s.

At least I think that is what is going on here.
