The Mandalorian (TV series)

There must be something more advanced used for this bounty,...Mando was going to leave him with the villagers,...I'd say we will find out next week

Last week they dangled the mention that a Mando never takes his helmet off & folks went daft, saying that's stupid,....how does he wash/shave/eat etc....the sane folks answered, probably not take it off in front of anyone

Now everyone is wondering about the tracker....

Hey folks, it is OK to criticize here. Things don’t have to be black and white either. I’m really not seeing haters here, more so constructive criticism, which I encourage.

The Mandelorian is not perfect nor a sacred cow. That said, iMHO, it’s the best Star Wars entertainment I’ve had since the OT for sure. Wish I had this quality of show as a kid but I’m happy my kids are enjoying it and me enjoying watching with them.

I’m glad they addressed that this episode. Was still a little perplexed when he removed it to eat just inside the hut in clear sight of the doorway.

From a storytelling standpoint, I think it was showing the audience that Mando is conflicted and has his doubts about his chosen path. That was good character development. I also think we will see his face towards the end of the season. Wonder if it will be Pascals?

Oh, I’m just going to leave this link here. You’ve been warned, mature audience only:

Oops, intended for link to be left cold!

The tracker seems to go after a certain DNA/person. But it also seems to only work once you're on the same planet, maybe even hemisphere.

Remember, the imperials had to give Mando the Target's last known location. Mando had to get near there, before he could use the tracker. The tracker wasn't beeping when it was handed over to mando.

So it would seem the bounty hunter that found them on the backwater planet, at least had to have done his own legwork to choose to check out that world. Possibly even had to hop from spot to spot on the world, in hopes that the tracker would kick back on. In this case, the idea that at least one bounty hunter had thought to check there, meant more eventually would, and then their tracking fobs would fire up.

I swear there’s a shot just before this where Cara his his helmet and it’s a rubber stunt helmet that flexes out of the way.
It probably is the stunt stuff. I still get thrown by how well blended the rubber Jango stunt armor is until you see it double over itself when he looks to see if Obiwan fell

My 2 thoughts this week are-

1) I'm thinking someone put a tracker on his ship. Either someone thinking ahead, that he'd escape with the bounty, or someone wanting to ambush him for his armor

2) I've not seen anything definite, but I'm not thinking that Pedro is in that suit. We had a fair amount of promotional stuff before he was ever announced, & in some interview I read, he really beat around the bush when asked about the suit, even strongly giving props to the stunt team.

It doesn't bother me at all, & doesn't hinder my enjoyment of the show, but I enjoy learning how the art I like was created. If anyone has seen anything to the contrary, I'd love to see a link. Really hoping for an 'Art Of' book for this series.

It wouldn't be fantastic to be able to guess that the Mandalorian would be heading towards places with little or no population centers.

A good bounty Hunter could make s few well educated guesses, and may even have informants in such places.

If our Mandalorian found it, another bounty Hunter finding it isn't really too far fetched.

So just for funsies, I watched the second half of episode 3 again, before diving into 4.

This time I noticed the even more worn down storm troopers in the "concept art" at the end of the show. Wearing ponchos, some wearing cargo pants instead of leg armor, etc. I kind of wish that aesthetic had mad it into the show itself.

100% agree, those concept troopers seemed fantastic, whereas the ones we got now feel a bit raw by comparison. But I understand the stained armor is enough to make the statement while not confusing the audience.

That's an interesting point. I wonder how having the main character in full armor influenced production. You can have Pascal where acting is needed and the stuntman for the action scenes, each on different sets far away and both made at the same time with different directors and teams... Heck, you can even shot all episodes at the same time and have Pascal comfortably dub them from a single voiceover studio

When Herzog commissioned Mando, he said "no fob", and could only give a last known location and partial "chain code". That last I think has something to do with both genetic traces and decay rates. The last four digits of said code apparently include or indicate age, as that's what was said right after. Pretty sure Mando then used what he could figure out to program a blank fob himself. Whatever those other hunters were tracking it wasn't Baby Yoda. Gonna lay odds it was Mando.

Which still leaves the question of IG-11... He had managed to find the target, too, and not from Herzog, as Mando's instructions were to bring it in alive if possible, while Iggy's were to terminate on sight.

They were tracking baby Yoda/the kid. Herzog gave mando a fob (the scientist guy brought it out to them). The thing that WASN'T provided was a "puck". Both Herzog and Weathers told Mando "no puck".

Mando helps a downtrodden village defend itself against dog people who happen to have a sentient AT-ST. He then has to move on to another adventure leaving the beautiful maiden... How original.

Not exactly original but it was a fun enough episode. I think people can be far to critical of Star Wars these days, even the good stuff when it isn't as good as they'd like it to be. It was great to see a strong female character battling that wasn't 90 lbs. What we got was a believable female badass.
