The Mandalorian (TV series)

Did it kinda feel like a series finale as well?

Yea, I'm not quite sure where this show goes from here. If they elect to do a season 3 and beyond, I expect it will be good, I just don't know what it could cover. lol.

I think people are afraid this is the end..

I see it as just the beginning

Yea, maybe the end of this series (maybe), but certainly not the end of this kind of thing on Disney+. Though I hope we get more.

They started filming season 3 already from what I've read. But. I suspect that they will use the next season to fully setup the next series. Or at least it would make sense to do it that way. Now that he's with Bo Katan they cam start building a team.

Well I finally disliked an episode.

I've become that person and I apologize.

No I don't...

I am not going to join in with the fan service here. That was the last person I would have picked. Also, not where I wanted the show to go at all, considering what the sequel trilogy sets up. Really ruins it unless they either retcon it (not gonna happen), or something else happens.

They really have to stop with the horrible deep fakes.

For the amount they spent on the bad version of Unreal Engine, they could have hired Sebastian Stan for an hour.

Ezra would have made much more sense and then blended into the Ahsoka show.

I don't mind this transferring over to Boba, in fact I loved the dynamic between him and Bo-Katan and Reeves. That whole lady gang was fantastic! I love what they did with Fennec.

I put the Skywalkers to bed a long time ago. I'd like if they stayed there.

And of course I love the relationship of Din and Grogu. This makes no sense now. Call him a stupid ass "McGuffin" all you want, it was a cute and nice change to the pace of SW, now it's just...meh. I'm sure he'll be back (he better be), since Din said he promised he'd see him again, but at what capacity?

How many years is it before we get the Rian Johnson world of bs that we know takes place between now and then?

I gotta sit on this for a while...

WELCOME BACK HALLIWAX!!!! So good to see you back man!

Ok so I'm typing this as I watch. So far I don't really care about what's happening. I know Bo Katan, Fett, and the other Mandalorian have history but I never cared much about the lore they were referencing and that fight was so corny. Fett works best when he is restrained. For all of the things that I thought were cool about him in his return episode, this comes across as cheap fan service even moreso than before. I really don't like Bo Katan. A huge part of it is this insistence on having the character never use contractions in their sentences. I see this kind of thing all the time in so much of Star Wars and other movies in the speculative fiction genre and it drives me crazy. It's supposed to generate a sense of gravitas to whatever dialog is being said but it just comes off as amateur writing to me. Even in real life when people talk like that I find it distracting. It just doesn't sound natural. Just like I have gripes about the insistence on having important dialog being delivered in an English accent. It's become a pet peeve of mine. lol

The Imperial mocking Cara was cool I guess and does speak to the ideological conflict between the two factions though I knew the second he said it he would get shot in the face. It's a trope that is all too familiar where the protagonist is goaded into killing the villain in a fit of rage and usually in a gruesome manner. Not bad per se but super predictable.

Are Dark Troopers supposed to be scary? I know they're a reference to something but they just come across as a type of super battle droid to me. I'm getting Terminator vibes. If they don't float away too far they could still be a threat because they can survive the vacuum of space. (Turns out I was right.)

The duel between Gideon and Mando is happening and I feel like I'm watching Clone Wars clips. I'm not invested in any of this.

Grogu is cute. That's been consistent from the beginning.

So the Darksaber and Bo Katan's story is a thing now. I know Gideon is supposed to be menacing and conniving but the whole lore about how she has to win it in battle in order to reclaim her throne doesn't interest me. So what? Are they going to have to duke it out at some point? I mean who cares? I didn't watch Clone Wars for this very reason. This lore doesn't interest me at all. Just like Game of Thrones didn't interest me. I didn't care who ended up on the throne because I wasn't invested in the characters or the stakes. Ughhhhh......

Digital Luke looks off and the voice isn't Mark Hamill. I know a lot of fans are going to go gaga for this but I'm not feeling it. So he's doing things we've seen Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan do to battle droids in TPM. Big deal. I'm not impressed. And what is it with Jedi not wearing flight suits? Even in Return of the Jedi Luke wore a flight suit when he was flying. That drove me nuts with the prequels. I get that it was more dramatic to see him in his ROTJ Jedi garb but it would have been more impactful to see him take off the helmet to see that it was Luke.

The moment where Din takes off his helmet and finally sees Grogu face to face is very sweet. I just can't help but feel like Din passing him to Luke feels sort of creepy because Luke looks so off.

I've said it before that no amount of good content will ever make up for or "redeem" bad content. The Mandalorian might be good, but having Luke show up doesn't change the fact that he ended up a loser in the Sequel Trilogy. I think this might be the breaking point for me.

For some fans they might be willing to overlook the Sequels because of this but I'm not sure if I can when I try and take the entire story into account.

That coda was ridiculous! So were are back to Tatooinne AGAIN! How many times does this planet need to show up???? And Bib Fortuna somehow survived being blown up in the sail barge? For ***** sake. Death is not a thing apparently. He said, McClunky..... Gammoreans are now anorexic and Boba takes the throne. Whoopty **** -ing do. Boba Fett fan film. That's all that was. I've seen amateurs doing this for years. It's not impressive. None of these content creators can show any restraint can they????

So the Mandalorian is now going to be a series where we see different short seasons of Mandalorian characters? The Book of Boba Fett? What the **** did I just watch???? Is Din's story now over? Is this a series of Anthology stories about Mandalorians?

This is exactly why I didn't want to watch this show in the first place. I purposely stayed away because of things like this. This entire season was just one cameo after another. I don't know if I'm going to bother watching any more. This should make for some spirited conversations at work.

The strength of this show was that it was trying to actually do something different and explore characters and scenarios outside of what we knew, but apparently the set dressing is all that matters to these content creators. I love Jon Favreau and I have come to respect Dave Filoni more than I have in the past, but this is EXACTLY why I have said that it's foolish to say these guys "saved" Star Wars.

I'm ******* pissed that I wasted my time with this crap. I was willing to overlook things and the second to last episode was literally some of the best Star Wars content I've seen in a long time (which is really sad considering how much content has come out since 1999) , but man did this episode just throw all of that in the trash....

It's possible as soon as Luke caught and ignited his lightsaber on the skiff Bib immediately ran to the top deck and jumped off the Barge onto the desert sand and started running away like a coward because he knew how thing would end (the bad guys being killed, not the Barge blowing up). I'd have to go back and watch ROTJ again to know if Bib was actually on the Barge when it blew-up.

Yeah but that's more fan speculation to excuse an obvious retcon. Bib can be seen on the barge in several shots and I know it's possible that he escaped, but it's just another character being resurrected only to be killed off. It was used as a fan film type moment. Like a kid saying, wouldn;t it be cool if.... cue whatever scenario they create with their action figures.

I used to do that kind of crap with my toys as a kid. Oh no he died! But wait he you only thought he died.

I gave Boba the mulligan of having armor that would give him a fighting chance to have survived, but when this kind of thing happens over and over it gets old.

Well, I think that’s the end of the series. I note that when I logged onto Disney +, this morning, it now says “ALL Episodes Now Available”.

A great wrap-up. 100% Fan Service that was perfect in every way (except for the “well, it looks OK” de-aging effects that have been described already).

By the way, someone should probably check-in with this guy and make sure that he’s OK, after seeing this episode...

I have no problem with the CW look and feel...I liked CW. But I heavily agree with it being thrown in the trash. Specifically Din and Grogu's relationship.

You set up this very sincere bond between the two. This poor kid has been tossed to the side multiple times for the past 20 + years, just to possibly be killed in Luke's academy by the bs character that is Ren.

If the sequel trilogy hadn't have happened, that would have been an epic entrance for Luke.

But that was so ******* bad.

I thought for sure that Ezra was going to pull through a World Between Worlds portal.

Also Rahul Kohli is a ******* troll and I'm pissed.

I'm curious if they used de-aging or deepfake to achieve that effect.

I'm not sure; but that's really my only disappointment with the episode, is that it was not done well. lol. I feel like almost every time a straight up face swap is done in a show these days, the internet nerds can do it better.

My preference would have just been to get a new actor. They credited the original actor in the end, and nothing about what we saw or heard in the show would have come from him, so I don't know what the deal is.

The idea of a face swap thing for a potential one-off cameo doesn't hurt my soul; but if he's gonna pop up much more in anything else, I would want a new actor.

It pulled me completely out of the show.

You make an amazing feat of artistry that is the Grogu puppet, and you pull this?

I felt like he was about to pull the Fenslerfilm GI Joe weird face pop.

Use the amount you paid for that ****** CGI and hire the actor that looks like his twin.

I liked this season better than the first, but I can freely admit that there were bits & pieces of the season that could be considered weak if closely scrutinized. White I really, REALLY enjoyed this finale, there were big parts that I felt like we'd seen before in earlier episodes. I can say that without the big reveal & the post-credits, I'd probably feel a bit 'meh' with the finale.

All that being said, I chose to watch it. If I don't like it, it's my responsibility to stop, but what I'm not going to do, is the equivalent of being invited to a kid's birthday party, & harp on the kid & the guests that are enjoying themselves because I don't like the clown, the magician, & the flavor of the cake.

EDIT: I didn't see some of the earlier posts,& was saying this in advance, so I was not directing this at anyone at all. I was just stating my position on the show.

The big thing that is undeniably clear to me now is that this show is not the show I ever expected it to be. Not saying that’s a bad or good thing, but it isn’t the “seedy underground bounty hunter” that it seemed like from all the pre-release hype.

Ok so maybe someone could shed some light on whether any of this makes sense or they finally did bad writing here...

So Ahsoka blantanly says she can't train him because his attachment is so strong. Moff even says it.

But Luke is ok to take him??!

I...just..what?

Also, Sabine just handed over the Dark Saber to Bo and she took it. Now she can't take it anymore? Filoni, wtf.

To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

I guess I deserve it.

I also, honestly don't understand the fascination with Luke. There are much cooler jedi to me.
