The Mandalorian (TV series)

FWIW, Luke also got toasted by the lightning and wasn't too worse for wear when it stopped.

In order of plausibility, I'd rank survival:

Boba Fett (because jetpack)
Mace Windu

(bit of a gap)

The Emperor
Darth Maul (because they CUT HIM IN HALF I can't stress this enough)

If they hadn't resurrected any other characters, I'd say bring back Windu, but it's just getting absurd at this point.

The Grogu lead is possible, but Thrawn had already gotten to Elsbeth, she was working for him. Hence the electric cages and the fact all of her guards had Thrawn's symbol on their armor. It's the whole reason why Ahsoka was on Corvus, to find his location.

I can send you some images of logos you've never seen through email...I can also adopt the logo of a company/group that went under years ago - doesn't mean i have any direct connection to them.

You can rationalize it as payback for the bs ways they offed the OT cast in the sequels :)

I miss the first few episodes from season 1…back before all terrible extras and tie-ins to unfinished plot lines from niche content. Now we’re discussing probably the most boring character in the prequels and whether or not he’s alive…

I'd say the worst is the emperor being tossed down a seemingly bottomless reactor pit or which the whole thing blew the #$%& up a few minutes later - and he still came back.

Given Palpatine's obsession with eternal life, and his genius for planning ahead, it makes sense that he'd have plans for when his original body finally failed. But yeah, Abrams & Terrio 100% pulled that out of their ass for ROTS (though to be fair, the old EU comics jumped that same exact shark decades ago.....).

As someone else said earlier, these victories feel meaningless if it's a given that the bad guy is going to find a way to come back. The Old Republic MMO is making this same mistake by recycling the threat of Tenebrae/Vitiate/Valkorian over and over and over again......

If you're talking about Cara and Mayfeld and Greef and that ilk, I actually like The Mandalorian's own rogue's gallery.

This, though, 100%. I wish the show would stick to developing its own characters and ideas and not have to tie everything together into Anakin-built-C3P0 style nonsense. Did they take all the wrong lessons from the prequels?

I don’t know…I mostly meant extras like the village people in the Bryce Dallas Howard episode, but man. I really don’t like it usually when athletes try to act, and Cara Dune is just the worst to me. She can’t act, she’s not really a stunt person, so real-world wrestling skills don’t carry over, I think she’s a boring character even if they had someone good playing her, and freakin heck does this show act like a cartoon. I mean, in ESB, characters wore outfits that were situationally appropriate. Luke goes from Hoth scout gear, to pilot gear, to Bespin training, to confrontation with Vader. Like how a person wouldn’t just wear the same thing every day. But the characters in Mandalorian are like Kenner action figures—they were poured into a mold and they aren’t changing. It’s fine with Mando, and other Mandalorians, they establish the whole creed thing. But really? Everyone else just wears the same thing always? I burst out laughing when I saw Cobb Vanth wearing the exact same thing some decade prior in his flashback about the destruction of the second Death Star. It makes sense in a cartoon. I don’t agree with it, but it makes sense. But in a live action series? They’re just throwing a few bells and whistles on top of a Filoni cartoon, and it’s all of a sudden got “mass appeal” because “cartoons are for kids” (which is a sentiment I don’t agree with) and this show is live action. If this were animated, I can guarantee you this show would have the same following as Clone Wars, Rebels, or that Vader comic.

What do you mean athletes don’t make good actors?

What about OJ Simpson’s role in Capricorn 1, or the Naked Gun movies?
There are a few exceptions, like the Rock and John Cena, but they transitioned well because (shhh) wrestling is fake anyways. They’d been acting for years before. And it heavily depends on the context of their role. I buy John Cena in Bumblebee because he’s playing a flat, one-note character pointing out that “Decepticon” doesn’t sound like something anyone should trust.

I never understood how Maul survived. Being cut in half, his stomach, kidneys and intestines were all gone.

It just makes no sense how he could still be around.

Plus even cauterized the stuff in the upper torso would fall out.

I saw the episode where he returned just for that and they did not mention how he survived if I remember correctly.

Did they ever address it in the show?

Plus The Rock. He has range.

The Rock

Dwayne The Rock Johnson

Dwayne Johnson.

He does it all.

It never ceases to amaze me how people look at something, the same thing and see it so differently.

Some think Schwarzenegger can not act.

Some think he acts very well.

Maybe he was strong enough with the force he could live off it long enough until he could be medically healed? Plus the lightsaber slice doesn't induce any bleeding.

The sequel trilogy shows the life can be transferred via force healing.

Except Maul literally spouts blood when he's cut in half.

The darkside is full of abilities some may see as unnatural....

I was actually happy Maul was brought back, enjoyed him in Clone Wars and Rebels.

I would have been happy if Palpatine NEVER returned however.

Actually, there was a pretty good vaporized blood splatter when he was cut in half.

Yeah, but like Jamesfett said, it's not about bleeding to death. A layer of cauterized tissue isn't going to hold in all of your internal organs, especially given the centrifugal force as your torso tumbles and spins down that reactor shaft.

And who, if anyone, would be near the Theed Power Generator and have the capability and inclination to transfer any life-force to Maul?

That said, I think you're right - his pure seething hatred and strong Force affinity are what kept his innards intact and his body alive.

Again, I love what Sam Witwer and Dave Filoni did with the character, but it was a stupid resurrection that never should have happened in the first place.
