The Mandalorian (TV series)

Okay I hate to say this. Baby Yoda is getting old. I love him. Have much merch, again.

I feel they have written themselves into a corner. We know who he is and where he comes from. Hard to believe no one else knows, but regardless where do you go with him. He was cute. Now he is just there.

This story needs to move forward. It's like a who dun it but we all know.

Ya see there were these Jedi. The most famous was Yoda. He be one of them kind.

Not exactly a revelation.

Also since they say he is fifty, let's hope they undo that, he can't age much.

I love this little guy so I can imagine I am not the only one getting tired of the same cute shtick.

I had a thought this morning, reading through the various posts about Din being a bit 'dim', or just really naive, while also supposed to be the 'BEST'.

He's reminding me very much of Jean Reno in 'Leon: The Professional'.

Dang... The more I think about it, there's a whole bunch of similarities in the two of them. Could that be where the show is eventually headed. I personally think they could do a lot worse.

Amen. I agree. I love it. They just should not claim he is the best, which I don't think they have since the start. If they are doing this on purpose it needs to be pointed out, to him, us, etc. He has potential, but much to learn.
I think the reference(s) to him being the best were 'the best Greef knew/had' not the best their was. He had what? 10-15 guys working for him? he was the best of that group. You can feel pretty good about being the best in your class. However, it doesn't hold up if you're in the remedial class, you know? :) not saying he's not good, but, I don't the reference was best in the galaxy.

Yeah, he's not some kind of legendary figure in the whole galaxy. He was the best Greef had in his guild. This is the way I have always taken his reputation. Mostly an outer rim regional thing, in a small underworld circle.

I think they're trying to portray his failures as a product of defacto fatherhood. This is a character who's been alone a long time, never had to care for another soul, must have kept to a very narrow lane, and now he's burdened with caring for this baby, and having to go way, way out of his comfort zone.

I think they're laying it on a little thick this season, but Im still enjoying the show a whole lot. I can forgive some heavy handed storytelling.

I agree with some of the criticism but I do enjoy the show.
I'm afraid this show may be turning into a live action Clone wars and rebels. I just could not get into those shows, I tried twice.

So I had no idea who Bo Katan was, Moff Gideon with the dark saber was a WTF moment for me and from what I've read people are expecting someone known as Rex. These were just a couple of things I had to do a little research on to understand.
So they are bringing characters I have no connection with or care about.
If needing to watch these cartoons becomes a requirement to fully understand the Mandalorian show they are going to loose me.

As of right now I think they’re balancing the TCW/Rebels stuff well enough but time will tell how things go if they really do meet Ahsoka. It’s a fine balance of carrying on Filonis creations into this one with not losing casual or uninitiated viewers. I think Bo and Ahsokas actions and explanations will be a huge determining factor in their successful integration. They can’t just assume everyone will look up a Darksaber explanation on YouTube.

I've never watched the cartoons. I just know who these characters are from forums and people posting stuff on social media. I watched a few scenes from the cartoons on youtube, like the fight between Maul and the older Kenobi, which was pretty darn cool.

I doubt it's going to become the focus of the show. Bringing in some of these characters from the cartoons works for the show this season because of Mando's quest.

I am curious how they will eventually write the child becoming a permanent part of Mando's life. Because there ain't no way he's going to be just leaving the kid with the Jedi, and the show goes on without baby Yoda.

Yea, you're not going to have to have watched the cartoons to watch mandalorian, no matter how much they include the cartoon characters. the show runners know they have to give us background we need, even if you could already know it from cartoons.

I feel that having watched the cartoons just gives some more depth to the characters and some background information. Like the Lord of the Rings; having read the Silmarillion gives you more depth on Númenor, the balrog, the feud between elves & dwarves, &c. Yet it is not necessary to enjoy the Lord of the Rings.

My hope is that the Mandalorian will be enhanced by these characters from the cartoons and not taken over by them.

Yeah, he's kind of a Leon character. He is probably a great Bounty Hunter, but he never learned anything more than that and with his responsibility for baby Yoda he enters a whole new world. Even with his helmet he's able to show more emotional depth than the whole ST characters.
