The Mandalorian (TV series)

I found this exchange funny because Mando clearly knows the phrase, but has no idea what it means. He doesnt realise "The Force" is the magic power the Child has. Its just a phrase that gets thrown around without much meaning.
It seems to me that the phrase,

"May the Force be with you" really only held a lot of significance in the original three films. Since that time it's become less and less meaningful as more films and content are made. That's not so much a criticism as it is an observation.
Not to derail too much but I always thought that the ewoks were effective because they knew the terrain and used it as a tactical advantage, proving they were m

It really makes a show for me when nuances in universe-building come across in details like incidental dialogue.
The Force seemed more compelling when it seemed more ancient and occult in ANH. e.g. when Obi Wan has to explain lore of a more "civilized age" and introduces Luke to the very concept of "The Force." Even Vader's faith is described as a "sad devotion to an ancient religion."

Come to think of it, if Luke was such a fanatic of joining the Rebellion in ANH, how is it that he never heard of "The Force", since it is a ubiquitous part of the Rebel salute?

1. I expect the Ewoks are likely also "Chimp" strong. Nearly everything in nature is stronger than humans at any size. I imagine those rocks and spears and paws are coming with way more force than we'd expect :p

2a. I took the "may the force be with you" comment to show that the New Republic had chosen to latch onto that particular piece of history, and make it their tag line. And the leadership from the rebellion all would have known/remembered accurate stories about the jedi; and could easily want to latch onto that image. It'd only been 20 something years since the republic fell, so it was still worth associating with.

2b. The response back from the pilot seemed a little... "loaded" to. a little bit of "oh jeeze, I'm so sick of hearing that at the end of every staff meeting" mixed with "no one ACTUALLY says that... this guy is full of ****". So I'm not sure it helped Mando out in the short run. lol

Did I miss something when Mando dove into the water to save the child? Seemed like he had a plan, dove in, then came up two seconds later choking on water. I'm assuming something happened there I missed? lol.

You didn't miss anything. I was half expecting an underwater shot showing him trying to go after the pod. I was also glad to see that pod was airtight too and that the child was safe.

Okay I have to say it again. Mando kind of sucks at stuff.

I love this show.

I have much Mando merch. Put away the pitchforks.

Seriously though, he falls into an obvious trap. Can't seem to use his gun to shoot his way out, can't rescue the child, can't hold his breath for 20 seconds, seems to be panicking. Then when presented with three Mandalorians he takes off and does not bother to get anymore information the second they say something he does not know or like.

Really, this guy is the best Bounty Hunter in the area. Okay, bar must be low.

Oh, and he has never heard of the Jedi. Okay?????

Cmon. It would be better if Mando was young, headstrong, and not that experienced because objectively he is not very good, always gets screwed over, and seams to be a bit of a chump.

LOVE IT but I speak the truth. IMO

I'm not all that invested in any of the characters. I like them. I don't love them. I still can't define what it is this show is missing but eventually I'll figure it out. And it's not lightsabers. lol

In some ways it just feels like a series of events in a GFFA made into a show. Like a well scripted show that's beautifully shot, well thought out, but it's not super engaging. Mind you, I enjoy it enough because I keep watching it but I can think of a ton of shows I would rather watch. If for some reason I stopped watching I don't know that I would be all that desperate to know how it ended.

I'm torn on it if I'm being frank because I want to love it the way so many of my friends do, but I just don't.

I think it lacks some polish. IMO it desperately needed a little blurb at the beginning of the first episode with a brief overview of the status quo. I understand where you’re coming from, I really really LIKE the show, but I don’t love it.

That might help but the part that's gone is part of the reason why I never took the time to watch any more than an episode of Clone Wars or Rebels. It just feels, empty somehow. Missing some crucial element that prevents it from being truly great. Honestly all the lore holds no interest for me. This is the Way, I have Spoken, meh. They feel like empty phrases because they might mean something to the characters but they mean nothing to me as a viewer as though I missed out on some key piece of lore I should already know. Maybe I'm alone in thinking that. Idk.

Beskar, even Din's past, I don't really care about him. I've seen orphans in Star Wars before. That's nothing new. I have to really think about it because I'm not hating on the show. It's just not... right, if that makes sense. It was easier to define with the Sequels because they were utter garbage to me, and so obviously thrown together with terrible writing, but this, this has sincere passion put into it and care. I really gotta give credit to Filoni, and Favreau, and all the the directors and artisans that make this show. There is no doubt in my mind that these people truly love Star Wars.

Well, the child is in Space X capsule;)

Yeah, Mando seems very naive. "We've seen other Mando's, follow us to a secluded area with a group of absolute strangers, trust me, we won't rob you at all, you know there's a massive bounty on your head, but let's join eachother on a little stroll into the middle of the ocean"

I think the only thing actually "missing" from the show, is a familiar main character, every SW movie (save Rogue One) had familiar main characters. If the audience doesn't know the main character, they won't be as invested as they would if it was a Solo or Skywalker, Calrissian, etc. All we know is this guy was raised by a tribe of Mando's and hasn't learned much other cultural groups during his growth. He knows his tribe, and that's basically all we know about him. Baby Yoda is a force sensitive from Yoda's species, and that's all we know about him. Trying to root for an unknown is kinda odd, but we do know SW lore, geography, weapons, vehicles, etc., so we just go in being 100% interested by default.

Everyone wonders why Boba Fett has such a following. The simple answer is: He didnt have much of ANYTHING, besides... HE'S A COOL LOOKIN TOY! Which may be the same with Mando and The Child.

Mando ******* up all the time is what makes him such a great character! He's not perfect, he makes mistakes, he doesn't know what to do. It's refreshing in this era of seemingly hyper-competent blockbuster characters.

Amen. I agree. I love it. They just should not claim he is the best, which I don't think they have since the start. If they are doing this on purpose it needs to be pointed out, to him, us, etc. He has potential, but much to learn.
