The Mandalorian (TV series)

Ironically the lore and history of Mandalorians is the least interesting part of this show to me. I haven't been able to define it yet but this show feels like it's missing something. I'm enjoying it and I appreciate the care and obvious love put into it, but there is some key ingredient that it lacks. I think eventually I'll figure it out but until then I'll continue to enjoy the show, I'll just never love it.

Why are they using boats? Are they not an outmoded form of transport at this point?

With the fact that they were carrying a critter/had a catch storage area in the boat, it makes sense to just leave it in the water, rather than keep a separate floating tank.

Repulsors in Star wars don't all work over water very well, especially when it comes to being down close to the water (like a fishing vessel). They do better over water when they're the kind that functions more like true flight.

Plus Quaren and Mon Cal are aquatic. Above the waves or below the waves means very little to them; that boat is really just a box for keeping fish in.

Is walking or bicycling out dated?

Planet density, gravity, maybe the planet makes ships heavier than usual, and maybe its more cost effective to use tradotional vehicles rather than everyone using cruisers in the sky. I still dread if we had flying cars and freeways in the sky, i can hear helicopters 3 miles away where i live!

So, what do ya'll think happened with the jet pack design?

Do you think Filoni and Favreu just straight up decided that any live action jet pack use would look exactly like The Rocketeer, or did The Rocketeer just figure out the coolest looking jet pack flight postures and such, 30 years ago, and they don't even realize that all their Mandos move like Cliff Secord?

Loved the episode, but I do have one gripe, and this isn't just so much this show it is Star Wars in general. I'm really tired of how Stormtroopers are always shown as just buffoons who can't hit the broad side of a barn and their armor is practically worthless.

How many times have we had the discussion that maybe they were told to not hit Luke, Han and Leia on the Death Star? So, okay, if we accept that then they should probably be portrayed as being pretty badass at most other times. Obi Wan seemed to think they were pretty accurate. So, they should be. I mean, these are the soldiers that took over the galaxy when the Empire arose. If they are so totally inept, why even have them?

Has there ever been anything in Star Wars, other than fan films, that shows the battle capability of the Empire's elite Stormtroopers? I would really like to see some troopers doing some total whoopass. Like Vader in R1.

I really get tired of seeing them as just a joke.
I felt they were a fairly competent threat in Rogue One

I want to believe that The Rocketeer just mastered it, especially when there’s even traces in the way Iron Man moves. I disliked the VTOL situation when Mando offers the Jetpack to the “maybe a Jawa” raider though. The physics of that just hurt my brain a little bit.

LoL. The vtol thing didn't bug me much; we have rockets right now that can land like that (space X).

Without a person's weight hanging off one side, I'm certain a pack that advanced could pull it off. It's probably even an auto pilot setting for ruining tests ("home back to me and land within 10 yards").

I think that was my issue is that it felt a little too, advanced I guess? It’s not a deal breaker in the least though, it just felt odd when I saw it.

I think it’s fun seeing the jetpack stuff. It’s done well and used relatively sparingly. I also wanted to point out, I really loved the exterior walkway on that Imperial cargo ship. Super cool, and reminded me of like, a zeppelin or something like that.

VTOL is too advanced, but we're ok with energy bolt weapons, lightsabers, repulsor tech, hyperspace, and space stations the size of a moon with planet killing weapons? :)

I knew this was going to come up. Advanced was a bad term for it, so I’ll just say I didn’t like it in concept and how it looked. Its not some grand hill I’m going to die on.
