Re: Jon Favreau Star Wars TV series..
1. if he's the focus of the show, the viewer has to identify with him. Hard if he's too anonymous. Could be revan type thing i guess where he doesn't recall who he is, but completely anonymous would likely keep viewers from being too into him. Even with the Punisher, you identify with the guy.
2. & 3. Why not see the face? Short of anonymity there's no reason not to. It worked with Boba fett because he wasn't a primary, or even secondary focus. You can go to a cantina in a helmet, but you can't drink or eat. Pretty hard to have a relationship if the helmet never comes off. While it sounds like it could be an interesting plot device to never take it off, it becomes a bit limiting. It's also harder to get a good actor to take a lead role if they're never seen. I think you can get away with it for a while, but not very long. Jango was a bit of a bigger focus than Boba ever was - cinematically at any rate - But the helmet was off where it should have been off. Talking to people, protecting his ID, talking to his kid. It was on when it should have been on - when fighting.
4. I'd like to say no, but you can never tell.
5. I think they were far enough into the show that it probably wasn't intended to be Clint in Space. If that changes, it likely wouldn't be until a season 2. But i think it depends on the original premise, how well it works, and what the plan was going forward. I mean, i'd LIKE to think they accounted for that stuff, but the current movies make me worry much more than i should on that aspect
I believe Fav approached the first IM assuming there'd be more so hopefully if he's the 'show runner', he's contemplated where it goes in S2, 3, etc.
Well, it's official from Kathleen Kennedy. No Boba fett stand alone film.
So, QUESTIONS:
1) Should this new Mandalorian series, whatever it turns out to be, have an anonymous protagonist?
2) Should we EVER see his or her face?
3) Should he/she EVER have the helmet off (ala Jango?)
4) Will they make this some relative of the Fetts?
5) Is this really going to be "Clint Eastwood in space", as was the inspiration for the ESB Fett?
