The Mandalorian - full scale Child "Baby Yoda" prop

After a very long day and night of mold making, I've finally cleared the major hurdle. Here's the first test cast. I tried painting in some red dragon skin first on the ears, but that didn't ultimately work like I wanted, so I'll just cast in a green and flock tinted batch, then do all the additional color work via silicon paint. This cast was just to make sure the molds worked out.

Next step is to work on the actual eyes and make a plan of attack for the under structure to attach the head to the body.

Don’t throw him away. I’ll adopt him!

Not spoilers, but he has more screen time in Chapter 6 and there’s a lot of great paint/hair reference!

Still working on perfecting the silicon casts, it's a very labor intensive process each time, and there have been some failures in the past 2 days, but we're getting there....slowly but surely.

We'll have pics tonight of the prototype costume - 3d printed armature is working, and we're starting to run silicon parts. Hair has been ordered and acrylic half spheres are on their way. He's getting closer. To be painting the first one this weekend.

This looks amazing so far! I really hope you go the full animatronic route eventually; I would love to see a series of Baby Yoda just walking around and surprising people on the street :)

A little last minute addition to the project - baby yoda feet - they won't be seen when its displayed in its stand, but when held, they will dangle from his jointed legs...already molded, just waiting for the silicon to cure

I really can't tell you how amazingly excited I am for this. The sculpt lone is just so damn impressive. Really, awesome work.

We're definitely going to do a run, we should have details ready to go in a week or so. We want to get a completed Baby built up to be able to show everyone what we'll be offering.

Got some feet pulled in silicon with nails attached. Everything is still going to go through paint of course. We also broke down the costume - I ran a Flexfoam dummy to drape on, and we created patterns and a workflow for the costume - the attached pics are in the thin mock-up material, but we've sourced some good materials for the actual outfit that hang and create bulk similar to the show costume, and will be putting that together just as soon as they arrive, hopefully by weekend. Also waiting on human hair and acrylic half spheres. We've also developed a simple stand that he locks onto for display.
