Did a little more tweaking to the lips, now it feels about 98%. Starting molding the left hand - aluminum sheet flashing for the part line, and Shell Shock Slow for the print coat and 2nd layer. 3rd layer will be Plasti-paste, then once it's all cured, time to demold and see how it went....

It is looking really good. I think that his mouth may still be a little too big and stick out a little too far. Looking at the pictures of the real animatronic, it seems to be smaller.

Heres a better pic, I've been referrencing this screen grab of the puppet to try and shave in the shape of the lip, the top seems to stick out a bit more than the bottom on the animatronic. Thoughts?

Biggest thing I am seeing is that it looks like your upper lip comes to a peak in the middle. But in the model I am only seeing it be rounded.

Also take a look at the corners of the mouth and the shapes they make. And the rounded shape of the laugh lines when they come off the nose.

Alright, revised the lip more, I think I'm at the stopping point (otherwise I'll be sculpting away forever, ha ha). He looks really close I think. Now to consider approaches to molding him. I'm planning on doing a hard urethane mold so I can run silicon, though the test on the hand didn't go well, partially because I used some old PlastiPaste that was a bit off and cured too brittle, and the shim method on this little hands proved to be too much. So I'm going to do a traditional plastaline part line, brush up one side to thickness using several coats of 65D, then remove the plastaline and do the mated side. Fingers crossed....

I'm always blown away by talented sculptors. It's such an amazing art, & this Baby Yoda (or The Child) looks great. & all your refinements make it look even better!

I definitely agree with the forehead. baby Yoda pretty much always looks like he's got a inquisitive or worried look on his face because of his forehead.

I have never done sculpting before and want to start with making a baby yoda and was wondering what is the best materials to use. As well as wanting to paint it to match the TV show. I have found some information about dimensions, his height being a little shy over one foot.

This is so great! I'm enjoying seeing the continual process of refining and dialing the child towards 100%. Keen to see this finished and painted/dressed.

Will you be adding teeth? I'm guessing so for the puppet version at least. Curious as to what material you would use for them?
