The DEFINITIVE TDK Joker Costume Thread/Project

I got my pant prototype finished. The lines don't show up very well in the pics, but that's probably my fault for not hiring a photographer :wacko.

Looking at these pics now make me wish I would have brought some shoes when I had them taken, and reminds me that I've had far too much pumpkin pie this holiday season.

I'll also be ordering some of the linen soon to make a few pair. Starting a list here http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=53477 if anyone is interested. I may gauge the interest in just the fabric in the near future too.

Mule,

Pants look great!

I've got a couple questions for the joker experts out there.

Are we sure that the jacket underneath the coat is gray and not a purple/gray mix? Also wondering if it is a full jacket and not sleeveless. I was watching the blu-ray and you can see the hex pattern from his shirt sticking out of the coat sleeve, but no sign of a jacket sleeve. Anyone know? Am I imagining any of this?

In Bruce's penthouse right as he starts to talk to the old man he lifts his arm and I saw the hex pattern, but no jacket sleeve sticking out. I THINK the coat sleeves were unbuttoned too.

Ill post some reference shots of the inner jacket in a bit. It appears to be a blue/grey color WITH sleeves.

I think this is likely because shirt sleeves tend to sit lower than jacket sleeves, yet ideally you want your overcoat sleeve to be longer than your jacket sleeve. Also, because of the construction of the two items, the jacket will tend to ride up more than the shirt will since the shirt is cuffed, and the jacket isn't.

In most of the WB pics I have seen under studio lighting conditions, the undercoat appears to be a gray/lavender. Just enough to link it in with the purple theme. Also, same way with the shirt. It is not gray or blue, it has lavender color to it as well.

I finally tracked down a pair of purple pinstripe pants...they're women's but they fit me, just gotta have the wife fix the flaired legs...Now any reference to the buttons used for the suspenders?
while she's working on them I was going to have her sew the suspender buttons on.

Buttons for braces are sewn on the inside of the waistband. Doubtful that we'll ever see what they look like.

Whatever button you use just be sure to use a strong thread and wrap the stitch between the button and fabric for added strength. There's gonna be alot of stress from the bracers.

I used extra buttons off my old BDU's on a pair of pants I have. Not that difficult just be sure you use thread that wont show up on the outside of the pants in case you do a stitch all the way through.

great tutorial and info. btw. Very informative.

Have somebody noticed that "brand" on the shoes?
It seems like the logo from the manufacturer, or simply a "copyright"-mark.
It appears on both shoes. What do u think??

And I would like to start again the discussion about the color of the shoes. I would like to order a pair "unseen" from Magnoli. But I cannot match the right color. But I think I'm goin' with a black pair of them...

In that pic they appear to have been brown and sprayed or dyed on top. You can see the roughed areas where the brown peeks through.

As far as the top color... It almost looks like a smokey blue grey to me. Especially when you back up and look at them with the whole costume. They really pick up the purple from the pants.

Yes, you're right. Thanks for helping me out.
So, I guess a charcoal color would be the best match onto this.:thumbsup

If you look closely at this pic, it appears that there was an extension added on the front of the sole they started with.
