The DEFINITIVE TDK Joker Costume Thread/Project

Hmmm... they do kind of look like a greyish purple with something brown over the top... the only way to know is to check with the original maker of the shoes.

I have invested nearly a grand in my Joker ensamble. I save money every year for Halloween because I love to go all-out.
The thing is, even with all that money invested, the wardrobe is still not completely accurate - mostly due to time because screen accurate items are not all available quite yet.
I will have the following:
Turnball & Asser tie
Tabio socks
SoHo Lab shoes
Topcoat from ebay 'cosplaying'
Blazer w/orange lining from Ebay 'tssy500'
Shirt and Vest from Indy Magnoli
shirt (backup) from the chinese maker (I forget thier name)
gloves - custom fabricated and dyed by an independent seller
Wig and scar set from Gorify.com
I don't yet have the chain or the pants. I am still unhappy with everything I have found as far as the pants go. It may be the one thing on my costume that I may have to 'settle' with something less than accurate.
I know some of you cannot afford to invest such money in simply a costume. I am an avid collector and I plan on having my costume on display and also wear it several more times down the road. I wish this stuff was cheaper and more easily accesable so everyone here who appreciates quality replicas can enjoy the costume in all it's glory.
I for one will be staying far away from any 'retail' costume items. They simply do not meet my standards and I would feel wrong including them in my costume. As far as I go, if I can't afford the 'real deal' then I won't do it at all. I'm an ******* when it comes to this stuff. But I am happy to see so many people doing the best with what they got.

They told me that they werent shipping until the 20th... :confused

I heard the same thing. My guess is they had two batches made up. I also, didn't receive an e-mail the first time around, so I had to call and ask about it. They have all my information now, and I'm hoping to have my tie just in time for Halloween. At this point I don't even care if it makes it in time, since I won't have the whole costume done yet. I just want to have it period!

Same here. I wont have things done to the degree I want, on more than one front, so I'll put it off until next year and collect the best pieces I can until then. Hopefully once the film is released on DVD/Blu-Ray, we can get screens of some of the more elusive pieces as well.

I'm not sure, because the insides of the seams should be the least exposed parts of the shoe and they appear to be grayish purple to me.

AZspidey made an awesome pair of shoes and his started out purple

I don't pretend to know the answer, I'm just accepting the possibility.

They actually started out brown and then I recovered them black not purple. Then weathered them back to brown.

AZ- Can you throw together a quick breakdown on how you made the shoes? They really do look awesome dude!

Anyone know of a place that still has to Soho Labs shoes on sale? Everywhere I go they're unavailable, and the guy who had alot on e-bay seems to have been removed, probably up to no good.

I'm gonna hit the thrift stores one more time for luck.
Oh, for those that plan to get the Hot Topic coat by mail they run a little small in the shoulders so a size larger may be in order. I was very pleased with the socks there. Very nice. not 100% accurate but very very close and at 7 bucks I couldn't pass those up at all. The tie wasn't all that great but I was going for convenience instead of accuracy this Halloween. Don't think I'm gonna hit any big parties so I'm not gonna sweat it this year for a change.

Yeah I just got back from Hot Topic and picked up the socks, shirt and tie for $58. Not bad at all really. Tie isn't wonderful, but it's not terrible for the price. The vest and jacket were not very well made so I passed on that and besides the vest wasn't even the same color. I'm very pleased with the shirt and glad I won't have to spend a lot on that. I would like to make the overcoat though. That needs to be made with the right materials since it's so prominent.

Are Turnbull and Asser done making Joker ties? Some posts I've read lead me to believe they made a couple runs and are now sold out. Can anyone confirm?

they had a handful left after TDK came out - those are gone but there are plans to start producing them again in the future...

It looks as though they are. They had a few left from the original run that was used to provide ties for the film. I want to say 50 were made for that run, which sold out a few days after the movie opened. They did (I'm guessing two other runs) as some people have gotten there ties already, from the "end of September" run. The other run will be shipping on October 20th. When I called to give them my order info, they said it was a limited number, but did not disclose how many were made. I'm guessing by now, they are sold out, but give them a call ASAP to be sure.

I just emailed john caglione jr asking if he would release a set of silicon joker scars from his original molds. Wouldn't that be cool?

i think that there is a bit more to making them look good than just them being silicone, the application is a huge part of it.

i found a thread at www.thedentedhelmet.com
that this is a huge topic they have been discussing.
