The DEFINITIVE TDK Joker Costume Thread/Project

My two nights out were pretty intense too. I had so many random strangers ask me for pictures, I signed some autographs and a total of five (really hot) girls ask me straight up for sex.
I am getting better at doing the makeup. I am having trouble getting the right look for the red though.
In the movie, it has an almost orange tint to it that fades into the white. My first attempt at trying this turned the red makeup pink as it blended into the white.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Its the space between the makeup I think you are seeing. Alot of people forget or just dont see that there is quite alot space between the colors. It really makes the difference.

Thats how I do mine. I never have the colors meet, because they blend and look gray or pink. I always do the eyes and the smile first.

Not me I've been doing the white first then the eyes then the smile. When it's all done I spray my entire face with water and with a cotton ball on standby blot out the big drops of water and let gravity do the work. Then I blot with a makeup sponge to blend and or blot out the makeup out. This I noticed gives that uneven look to the makeup white. In some areas I'll smear the eyes and mouth to match what we see in the screencaps. I do 2 layers of white using a dry powder and a cream base. The powder gives me a stable base and the other removes well without showing too much of my fleshtone underneath.

5 chicks....hmm..not bad...

Here is a pic I had taken with a very nice young lady who was following me around all night. It was a lot of fun and I even got a job offer to work at one of my areas Haunted hayride attractions next year, as the Joker of course.
Thanks for the tip on the makeup - I was wondering how to improve how I do it.
I did the white first, then the black - but I used a paintbrush to do some of the edges of the black/white around the eyes. The red went on last, again using a paint brush.
Next time, I will try leaving some space between the makeup and see how that looks.

So the big question is... Is there still a demand for these pants out there? I'm actually looking to fill some time over the next couple months taking some custom clothing orders, and it seems the joker pants are fairly high up on the list. Just have to find the fabric (which I have a couple emails out on now).

I already have a pattern that i think is pretty dead on for these. Here's some pics of a pair of pants I made from this pattern.

Here's an idea of what they might look like in the right fabric. Excuse the quick photoshop job.

So, it's a thought. Like I said, I have some emails out about fabrics. Would anyone be interested? Price would be dependent on fabric. A custom pair of pants might run anywhere from $100-$500 depending on cut, style, and fabric. I will probably not offer them if I can't do it for $250.00 or less. For those of you not familiar with my work, I can tell you that it's professional quality. I did this for a living before I changed my focus to design.

Questions? Comments?

Those are some nice looking pants. Is that an off the shelf pattern? I personally found a nice purple spandex type fabric I used. I can do the form fitting but still have alot of freedom of movement without worying about tearing the pants. I'm always a sucker for suspenders on my pants though.

Couple of new pictures have shown up and it looks like those buttons on the tour suit DID appear in the movie :wacko

And here you can still see Heath's tattoo

the buttons must have been on his "after prison" costume -

On another note... there is a boot company making some pretty decent shoes on ebay... $300 though

I never DID finidsh the vest I made. The jacket and coat covered most of it anyways. I posted the mercury dime awhile back but did anyone catch the smiley flower at Beverly's fabrics? The one I found was yellow but with the smile already in it so nothing a little paint can't do. Great find on the new pix. Love the great shot of the scar. That'll help alot when it comes to makeup time again.

now seeing that the buttons were used in filming - I ordered a couple of each kind - I'm still a LONG way away - but cant wait to have this costume completed. For me, the Jokers costume is the iconic "prop" of the movie - as lightsabers are to Star Wars, or the swords of Lord of the Rings...

I know the shoes have been discussed, the Soho lab Greene road...I can't seem to find anywhere, are the still available somewhere or did I miss the boat again?

I just went second hand store shopping and found a pretty decent close enoughs. Figure I could put the extra detail pieces to make it more accurate later on.

Good News all!!!
I've actually found a woolen mill in England that is willing to custom weave the pants fabric.

Here's the rub though. Prices start at $190.00 pounds for 5m. So this may not be a solution. I have an email out to see if the cost gets lower after initial setup of the run. I'll let everyone know how this pans out.

In the meantime. Does anyone know of any American based weavers that might be talked into custom work?

With all the HD screencaps coming out, I thought I saw something on the vest I hadn't noticed. I consulted some new production photos, and sure enough:

Now, did we already know about this seam? Am I late to the party?

Is it on the Magnoli vest?

I ask, because a lot of us have used the Empire cover as reference, and it looks like they photoshopped the seam out.
