The DEFINITIVE TDK Joker Costume Thread/Project

The vest is the 'deluxe' version - made from wool. It's very warm so I hope it will be cold on Halloween!
The shirt is indeed the Utopia base version - though it was purchased as simply a 'backup' in case I do not recieve Indy's shirt in time. The tie of course is authentic Turnball & Asser. I just dropped my fabric off at the tailor today to do my pants. Other than that, I am waiting on my blazer and topcoat to come in the mail any day now and I have the whole outfit.
I purchased professional clown makeup - called 'proface' - this stuff is pretty much the best clown makeup on the market and will hold up against sweating, temperature changes, drying and cracking.
So, I have spent over a grand on my Joker outfit. Crazy? Yes, but I'm a perfectionist and I plan on wearing this at many other occasions such as paid apperences at parties and events. I have my Joker impression down to an art and I hope to post some video when I have it all together.

I don't have someone home right now to take pics of me wearing the vest, so here are some ones of it off (no flash - taken with the awesome Nikon D60 - yeah baby!!):

And something off-topic - here is part of next year's costume (hopefully):

My makeup and hair need some work, but this was a first attempt without any reference pics or anything and done in about 30 minutes. I plan to actually put some effort into it this weekend. But more then anything wanted to try everything on....

So, here is a 6'6 265lbs Joker :)

Hey guys, need some aid.

First off, to anyone who has a UB shirt...the measurements on the site look odd to me. That or I'm smaller than I thought. I'm 5'9", 140 and usually wear a size medium shirt. I ordered a medium (since it was the smallest available anyway) in hopes that it will fit me properly. How has everyone been finding the UB shirts to fit?

Secondly, I need help with my blazer. I found a great one for $5, and bought some orange satin to replace the lining, but no one in my area offers this service. So I want to make a go at it myself. For those of you who have done lining replacement on jackets or blazers, how have you gone about it, and how hard was it?

Thanks to any and all for your help!

Here is a link to the Ebay seller offering great Joker blazers at a great price. Mine should be arriving in the mail any day now:

As for the UB shirt, I too typically wear a small. I wear a lot of Calvin Klein button-down shirts that are constructed with a 'modern fit' - so the fit is slimmer for a more athletic build. The UB shirt has a lot of body to it but it's not over sized, I'm just used to modern fit shirts. There is a lot of room in the shoulders, but if you really wanted to you could have it altered at any tailor - better to have a little extra room than be too tight.
All in all, the UB shirt is very professional, has the look, feel and even packaging style of a store-bought dress shirt. The collar is nice and stiff and the pattern (though innaccurate) is acceptable and is printed into the fabric so it does not look like a cheap shirt at all.
If you can't afford one of Indy's shirts, the UB shirt is certainly the best backup option for any Joker costume enthusiest - and it's even under $100 which is a good thing considering how much we have seen these shirts go for on Ebay.
Good luck!

Oh, and I'm still missing the chain for my costume. I want a screen-accurate version, so if anyone knows who offers one please hit me back with a link.

GF, thank you for such a thorough and useful review of the UB shirt. I feel much more confident in my purchase now than I did earlier this morning. And considering I had almost resigned myself to the Hot Topic shirt... ::shudders::
I mean, the HT shirt is nice...and since I already own it, I can say I'll probably wear it out now and then. But the UB looks so much better in basically all aspects. And I truly wish I could have bought one of Indy's shirts...but it came down to time moreso than money. His cost is quite reasonable. But without a solid guarantee of getting it before Halloween...well that is my main reason for purchasing this item.

Again, thanks GF for your great assistance.

Now...anyone got tips on replacing my blazer lining? :p

I got my Indy Magnoli vest in the mail yesterday and it is awesome! Still waiting on the shirt, but my fingers are crossed it will be here for Halloween.

Sorry if this has been covered already but are you jokers using cream or oil base makeup and which tutorial is the best out of the zillion that are out there to get the most screen accurate look for the weathered jail scene makeup? I am good with the scars, I just cannot seem to get the makeup down:unsure

I picked up a canister of mehron clown white and it seems to be working well. For the black and red I still have a few mehron cream sticks from doing the maul makeup. My problem is that that black cream makeup does not run at all. I can put my head under a shower and it stays put. Great for maul. Not so much for the joker.

I found some cheap 3 dollar tube black makeup ( I think it's rubies brand actually) and am going to try that. Overall I like my makeup I just need it to be 'messier'. So hopefully some runny black will do the trick.

As a side note. What is the average ship time for tabio to the us? I ordered a pair of joker socks and they shipped today. What have others seen as the average shipping time to the US?

I am using the shoes from SoHo Lab. Though not identical to the movie shoes, they certainly look as though they belong in the same 'family' of design and are pretty much the best Joker shoe alternative anywhere - and the price is great too.
Now what the heck am I going to do about my chain??

I guess to summarize (and because I'm bored) I will make a list of where all known-items come from or where screen accurate alternatives are available (or will be in the future):

Indy Magnoli:
Shirt
Vest
Shoes
Tie
Overcoat

Turnbull & Asser:
Tie (found item)

Tabio:
Socks (found item)

Zootsuitstore:
Chain

Other items we need but dont have a solid source for (aside from making your own):
Pants
Blazer
Suspenders
Gloves

I assume many from the above list will also be available from Indy Magnoli, but I only put what I know for sure he said he will offer...
