The Definitive Peter Quill/Star-Lord Costume Thread

this is what i'm thinking for the painted/modded nerf blaster, but i'm having issues w/ my 3d printer (aka it was delivered monday and i haven't had time to calibrate it yet) & the blasters are being painted, so don't want to use my calipers on them right now, so can't get exact measurements & adjustments done

this would be the right side clip, with the parallel clips grabbing the guard between the triggers, and the perpendicular shelf supports the weight of the blaster to keep the other clips from sliding up & hitting the triggers.

sketchup file's been shared here if someone else wants to grab it & tweak it for everyone to use.

I'm surprised you're going with a vertical clip for the bottom trigger guard. My Nerf blaster doesn't have much space between the trigger and forward trigger guard to fit a clip. Originally I was thinking of making a horizontal clip for the forward trigger guard in front of the bottom trigger button. Plenty of space there! Post pictures when you complete yours. I'd like to see how they turn out :)

Hey guys! Just wanted to show you my leather Star Lord coat prototype, there are still some things left to do (as you can see in the shoulder and arm pieces and in the front pattern design) and I'd love to get your input since this thread helped me A LOT designing the coat. here's a pic, you can see the rest of them in my run!

That looks fantastic Danny. It looks better than all of the trench versions on the market already! Looking forward to seeing the final product :D

I didn't notice it until I started painting my Starlord bucket for the second time....did anyone notice the red LED on his right side and how it correlates with the earpiece when the helmet is gone? I ddin't!! Great now I need to install a red LED on my bucket!!! Will the details ever end???

I'm just about finished with my blaster pads for the pants. I used pigskin leather with a sturdy cloth backing (the label said suit cloth). The pads inside are cut from foam material that's used to make wet suits. I thought it was going to be too thin, but it's fairly perfect. I spray adhesive on the back of the leather and pressed the foam pads on it. I then sprayed more adhesive and pressed the cloth backing on it. I also used a flat tool to press against the edges of the foam. I glued piping around the edges and folded the leather around to the back. I still need to sew around the piped edge and around each foam piece, to give it more definition. I'm going to attach them to the pants with velcro. The pictures don't due it justice (the color is a nice chocolate brown), but it looks awesome in person!

Sorry, I only bought enough leather for myself. However, you can make one out of regular cloth and some foam. Here is the template I drew over a photo of the pad in PowerPoint. It should be to scale and is for the right leg. Mirror the image for the left leg.

Hey everyone. I know a bunch of you are still looking for a decent pair of pants for your Star Lord costumes. Earlier somebody mentioned that motorcycle pants would work great, but that they're typically way too expensive. Someone else mentioned a company called UglyBros, who make motorcycle pant inspired jeans, but those also usually go for a few hundred bucks. After doing some digging, I found a site called aliexpress.com that's pretty much a site dedicated to selling cheap knock offs. I found a pair of "UglyBros" jeans that looked like they would work wonderfully. I paid 80 bucks for them, which is a lot more than most of us would normally pay for a pair of jeans, but considering the real ones go for 300+ bucks, I figured it was a good investment. I was a bit worried about the quality, but after receiving them, I can tell you that they're fantastic. It's honestly hard to tell they're even knock offs. The stitching is great, the material is thick and sturdy, they fit nicely and look awesome. Are they 100% accurate? Not even close. They're close enough for me to be happy though, and they look like they'd serve as a great base for anyone who wanted to mod them into something closer to the screen used pair.

If you're interested in getting yourself a pair, search aliexpress for "uglybros" and you'll find a bunch.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, these are shipping from CHINA. It took nearly a whole month for these to arrive from the date I ordered them. So if you order them now, they definitely won't arrive before Halloween.

Cassette tape mixtape portable speaker. You can personalized and add your own line of text. Just ordered ours from Zazzle. LINK HERE. About $21. 1st time ordering from them. Will be adding this inside our cardboard TPS-L2 Walkman. May as well have tunes blare out from the Walkman. Thanks to user Ein for the idea. We also ordered a cheapie MP3 from eBay for $3.83 shipped. Those look great! Quick question though: You're right, when I searched for them a bunch of options popped up. Any details on which one you picked? (base price, shipping price, ect.)

Thanks,
Aeric

The 15-34 days from China is free shipping there. There is paid shipping that can bring it down to 3-7 days from DHL I believe. I got the Uglybros featherbed moto in black myself....going to lighten them slightly then add the brown pieces and such.

Search "UGLYBROS motorcycle pants jeans motorcycle ride" and it's the 5th result or so, the one with 43 orders, costing $88.00. That's the exact one I ordered.

Ah, you're totally right! I must have missed that completely. Had I been paying attention I would have chosen to pay for the quicker shipping! Thanks for sharing that info!

After receiving my spats I don't think I'm going to use my motorcycle pants anymore. I'll probably list them on Ebay this week. Which is sad, because I really liked them. :/

I did however spend some time painting one of my blasters while home from college. I finished the majority of it. Still need to add some scratches to the back, and black wash the gold pieces.

I got the black ash moto pants with the liner and armor pads, but if they don't look good on then I might need some of those uglybros.

New here, been listening to how ppl plan on mounting pistols on hips. You know those chain locks on doors, the old school ones, I plan on shortening the slide and putting that on my side. Then putting the notch at the end of the chain on the gun....so I can slide it into place and it should appear that they are just stuck on me. Make sense? Btw, loving this whole thread.

I also ended up getting a helmet from Fanrek.com also 100$ but it's not rubber or foldable. It's pretty solid and made from eva rubber and pvc. I just plan to add lights. I'll try and post pics. It's a tad big but I might be able to take a bit out the back to make it smaller. Not perfect but for a guy that has zero talent at making stuff, it will work.
