The Definitive Peter Quill/Star-Lord Costume Thread

Just about done with my Star-Lord costume. I didn't go quite as movie accurate with some of the pieces because either I didn't want to or I just couldn't (i.e., they don't make that Star-Lord jacket in women's sizes). A couple pictures of how the props turned out for me. Thanks to everyone in this thread for all of the advice!!!!

Got my new PVC Star-Lord helmet a few days ago. I have a 22 1/2" head circumference and this fits on the big side. Per my request to the seller and company. Perfect for me as i wear glasses. Just squeeze the helmet a tad to get my noggin in. Will tighten up the loose space in the helmet with various EVA foam pieces. It is not screen accurate but for the monies it was perfect for the time. Was only $109 shipped. FYI They are planning to give me a $10 refund for the Glow Glass troubles as those are just FUBAR. I plan to neatly cut out the remaining excess plastic at the top so your hair can peek out as seen in the movie. That was my only complaint. Wish the factory would have cut it. Will remove the 6 side hose details to add in place actual 1/4" cut stainless steel braided lines with the proper ribbed end caps. Will add in various tiny Allen head screws culled from my AR-15 build to the lower breather area as seen in the screen used helmet. Thanks y'all.

Looking good! And not to throw a wrench into anything, but I just found this the other day: http://www.newamericanjackets.com/product/star-lord-guardians-of-the-galaxy-jacket-for-women.html

It has the same accuracy problems as the men's version, but it might be on my Christmas list since I haven't found another red jacket that I'm willing to modify (my costume used my red leather fall jacket from my closet, which I'm not willing to distress/attach things to).

What color is Star Lord Pants when he was wearing long coat? The hot toys is brown (Pic attached) .
Thanks in advance!

He wears the same pants throughout with the exception of his red Ravagers uniform at the end. They're a washed out black.

And I believe a blue/teal pair at the very end. Are these the same pattern as one of the other two pairs? They have his rocket controls attached.

Nope, he wears the same black ones at the end too.

Oh really? Gosh I was very sure that when the Nova Corp is talking about his genes he's wearing a new pair of blue pants along with the rest of the gang, and with his old jacket. Welp, there's a reason to go watch it again.

Okay found a pic. It's kinda hard to say; his pants are definitely a different hue than everyone else's Nova blues, but they still look more bluish than his standard pair.

The pants on the hot toys figure are as far as I can tell the least accurate part of the figure. The fabrics on the pants are all black, save for the lambskin holster pads, which are dark brown.

Thats because they're in sunlight, whereas most of the rest of the time he's wearing them they're in darker lighting

There are plenty of images of the black pants in sunlight, e.g. the Entertainment Weekly shoot, or this photo which basically takes place on the same set under the same conditions.

Now, they definitely could have bumped up the cyans and blues in post for the scene with all the Nova uniforms, but the black pair have and unmistakable warm, ruddy bias, and these just seem to be different. Of course, they are very close, and it wold seem odd to make a different pair so similar. And some grabs that my...uh...friend wanted me to hold on to...show a pretty ambiguous shade. Kevin, you may be right.

Sorry, I don't mean to be a stickler or argumentative or whatever, but I just want to make sure we're aware of all the pieces of this costume.

I think those ones could just be brand new. I have some of the corduroy they used on the pants and it's blacker before you rough it up a bit. It distresses really easily.

The pants have always looked like true navy blue to me (which is close to black, but still blue). I guess it's up to your own perspective.

I went with navy blue for my cosplay. They're a lot brighter than his, but I like the contrast. Here's how the belt and the whole outfit turned out! The belt was awesome because a relative showed me how to cut and stain real cow hide to make it (though they ended up sewing the final pieces together).
