The Definitive Peter Quill/Star-Lord Costume Thread

I plan on doing the red ear light on the helmet also, thinking of making that the button to turn on the helmet. is there a leg button that's small like that? ....anyone know?

Detailed instructions (more like "guidelines") in my thread build!

Ah, you're totally right! I must have missed that completely. Had I been paying attention I would have chosen to pay for the quicker shipping! Thanks for sharing that info!

I don't see a shipping option faster than the EMS 5-15 days option, which is a pretty wide swing. Also, question about the sizing - what's your normal jeans size and what did you order, and of course how do they fit?

Ok, V1 of the nerf quad blaster starlord holster clips i was working on seem to be working & look somewhat correct (thank you shirra for the holster pad template to check alignment on!). not 100% movie accurate, but scaled to work w/ the nerf quad blaster & be close for the holster pad template shirra shared.

apologies for showing a black painted blaster on a black clip, but i'm working with what i've got. =p

i would not recommend running with blasters clipped in or general rough handling of these (my first time designing a model to be 3d printed, i have some durability concerns where the fingers meet the base). you may want to light sand & cover the clip fingers with something to minimize it scratching your blasters paintjob (granted, where it would scratch isn't easily noticeable, but you'll know its scratched).

Their sizing is accurate. I typically wear a size 34, I ordered a 34, and they fit like 34s. No issues at all!

for some reason the kolster pad wont print to size......for me that is....only get the top 3 sections.....do you have to go to kinkos to print?....

hey, GMbridge.....did you print the clips yourself.....do you have a file to share?

I've started making some customisations to my trench coat. First up I wasn't happy with the shoulder insignia, which looked nothing like the actual Ravager logo from the film (perhaps down to copyright reasons?), so I un-stitched that, printed a picture of the logo out on paper to use as a template and made a new insignia patch out of some brown vinyl. It's not 100% same colour or texture as the real leather underneath but I think the slight variation actually adds rather than detracts to the look.

Left: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mqrunmsz176w3am/StarLordHolsterV1-Left.stl?dl=0 (i have not printed this yet, just mirrored the Right file, but it should be fine)

sketchup file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3iwkwcfe6p10s15/StarLordHolsterV1-Right.skp?dl=0 (once you're done editing it, you can just mirror it to make the left holster clip)

THANKS!
I have uploaded these to shapeways so that I can print them. I have made the models public (BETA) on shapeways so other people can order them. - I am not taking credit for the work and there is of course no up-charge for the printing.

Hey All,

What's the best way I can rig my helmet with LED's and still be able to see efficiently? I've looked around and haven't seen any viable solution.

Thanks,

-Joel

They're larger than a sheet of pape. I put the image into PowerPoint. I ended up spreading it over 3 slides and taping it together once printed.

Question.....how man lines does he have WITH helmet on...and how does that affect his voice. Does it add static or anything like say a storm trooper has? Anyone look into this yet?

He only has one speaking line while wearing the helmet. It's right when Drax takes out Korath... the whole "Finger to the throat means DEATH! Metaphor..." part. Quill replies "Sorta... Oh no." while his helmet is still on. The sound of his voice is similar to the Stormtrooper effect from Star Wars, like you mentioned.

I can't remember exactly if his helmet is on when he yells for Gamora to open the door while she's busy fighting Nebula, but hopefully this helps.

I've got a ton of work ahead of me to get this done in time for Halloween...

Received my zippers today

These two are for the pants. I also have a longer one for my jacket. I'll need to see if I can strip the color of the fabric, then dye it red, before I take it to tailor to see if they can switch the zippers out.

That's just the tip of the iceberg... Spats, boots, rockets, pants, quad blasters, helmet... I've been so busy cranking out parts for other people I haven't had time to work on my own! :lol
