TFS Matt...quite the project you`ve got! Eager to see the next update

That gun door master looks great! Very clean. That is just a ton of work. I remember when you and expectations to have this done in 6-8 months.... Crazy.

All told that's only about 8 hours of work. And it was absolutely necessary. Unfortunately the doors that came with the shell left much to be desired, but DID serve as great reference for the new ones.

One of the stories I tell frequently, regarding the car build, is just how significantly I underestimated the total amount of work involved in building one. I knew it was a lot of work. I knew it would take a long time. But honestly, my original head-space estimates were probably about 1/10th of what the actual work involved is. it's just a colossally huge project.

The good news is that it's lots of fun

I think Matt is doing a fantastic job and is moving along decently on the build what with the issues he's had. I've been watching along time,now and thought there'd be even less work done then there is currently. Just think if he had tiny toddler children on top of that, it'd be a turtle crawl on the build at that point. Keep it up Matt, you'll get to the finish line eventually and it'll be all worth wild with the effort and the amount of attention to detail.

Got a lot of work done last night. Did some more metal fabrication for the inner guts, and also started to cut off the front hood. big business!

The shell is now cut in two!!!

And I rebuilt the drive shaft tunnel.

I just spent about 2 hours reading through this build. Really great stuff and the amount of info you have shared on here is just fantastic. These are the builds that keep me coming back to therpf. You're awesome. Keep up the good work.

thanks for all the kind words, folks! Glad the write ups, videos, and pics are being enjoyed, and even better, are helpful

I have indeed taken over the welding tasks. I am going to have a pro double check my work, and add any additional welds where necessary, but in order to keep things moving forward, and to eliminate another bottleneck in the pipeline, I've picked it up. It's actually not that hard! There's a few things that are pure technique and knowledge (like the proper settings on the torch, pushing/leading the puddle, etc) but for the most part it's just a matter of practice and learning as you go. And so far so good.

I'm hoping to get down to the shop a couple more times this coming week to get more fabrication work done. Hopefully some good pics to follow.

Glad to see that this project is going forward (I had a heart palpitation when I saw the body cut in two:eek) but if it's needed, it's needed. Keep up the good work and good thinking about those gun doors for a movie room Spyhunter2k

Great detail on the gun door mold Matt, you may be able to sell those to other hines kit owners.

looking good. iam just about to start a batman 1989 build my self. iam in the uk, I have been looking at others builds on here for tips , have you done all the car now dude

First pull out of the mold on the gun doors turned out great. Absolutely thrilled with it. I'll post a pic to my next blog post.
