While your buying everything else, why don't you pick up the book, "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance." I know cars are more complicated than bikes and building is harder than maintenance, but it might help you maximize that rewarding feelings you talked about while fixing problems and limit the frustration. ha.

now THIS is an RPF thread! This read so far has completely taken me back to the good ol' days of the RPF. Overwhelming projects, Progress reports, members helping members. Great stuff man, we need more of this here as of late.

The crack pipe had me laughing. Was the car, by any chance, and actual cop car before it was a prop cop car? If so, my money is on some crack head that got arrested and the coppers didn't search him well enough so he stashed it while in the back seat.

Ron Covell's Hammerforming techniques dvd might come in handy for you Matt. It'll show how to make hammerforms for braces etc and might help with constructing support for the fiberglass body.

I sincerely hope you have my signature on some kind of release.

(and those photographs won't work for a third time)

Holy Farquads, I found ANOTHER crack pipe in the Caprice. Pics soon. Tear down is going REALLY quickly.

Tear down is the fun part. I'd almost rather have found crack pipes in my delorean project than what I did find…. (at least 4 rat skeletons, and several cubic feet of rat poop/nest/i don't want to think about it LA LA LA THE WORLD IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE *runs away screaming *)

I am not looking forward to pulling the dash. There's a rats nest in the glove box. Gross!

I recommend some THICK gloves. If you're at an auto parts store, near the paint, you can get "thickster" 14 mil latex gloves.

They are much better when dealing with rat's nests/other ickyness. A respirator and some safety glasses are also not a bad idea.

I'd rather inhale fiberglassing fumes and dust than to inhale anything from a rats nest or ---t dust, that is extremely dangerous. Be safe man.

Just read your "project workbench" about your neighborhood standards with the car seats in the garage, at least they'll feel alot safer once they know Batman and the Batmobile are living right next door... LMFAO!!!!

Also, I should add, working on a car is FUN! It's actually incredibly rewarding when you get something fixed. It's wild.

When I was 16 I accidentally put lawnmower gas in my first truck... My dad handed me the manual, told me to go get new head gaskets and told me where the wrenches were...

I've never looked back! :$

Although looking under 2011 hoods is more for the computer saavy than the gear head! :lol Though some things can THANK GOD still be maintained by the average Joe.

And YES it is very rewarding. I haven't checked this thread in a while... seems you are making some real progress.

I doubt you will ever top the "prop high" you get from completing this! I can't wait! :) :thumbsup :thumbsup
