Thermostat. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Good luck.

UNCROSS THEM BRO... WE WIN!!!!!

Guys, honestly, I cannot thank you enough. I replaced the thermostat tonight, and BOOM, I am in business! I have only driven around the block, the same distance I did last night that caused the needle to redline... and it barely budged!!!!! whoohooooo!!!!!

Here's a blog post with some pics, and a shout out to my friends at the RPF and CLTC who provided all the help. Thanks for talking me through it guys!

The Project Workbench: WOAH! I Think I Fixed The Over Heating Problem!

Honestly, and in all seriousness, I've fallen in love with this forum all over again today. Who knew there were so many gear heads here??? I love the RPF!!!!!

Here's the new thermostat in place:

Also, I should add, working on a car is FUN! It's actually incredibly rewarding when you get something fixed. It's wild.

Right now, I have no other pressing issues with the car. I should probably spend some time driving it around to make sure nothing else falls off. If that's the case, I'm going to jump right into the tear down. I REALLY need to get that thing stripped to the frame before the body shows up.

Congrats! Good idea to drive it around to shake out the bugs. When does the body arrive???????

Forgot to ask does the body fit in the garage?

Do yourself a big favor and drive it to a self car wash. Buy a can or two of GUNK engine cleaner. ****** the engine with it and let it sit for a minute and then pressure wash it with the engine degreaser. A clean engine is way easier to work on.

Thanks guys!

More great news all around. I filmed a quick episode of ROTMM today. Most exciting of all, I found a crack pipe in the back of the Caprice!!!!! no kidding!!! I should have the episode up later tonight. Tomorrow at the latest.

Anytime you are ready, sir!

Oh, and for those of you that keep asking, YES, I'm getting a shop vac this weekend :lol

After watching the last two series of Top Gear, I wouldn't tear apart a car without a Hazmat suit on. :lol

Like I said, that spare change will go a long way in offsetting the cost of the project. Every penny counts, in this economy. :p
